This is me, Jared. This is what I look like now! I’m posting so you’ll be able to find me, at ICFF, or other design functions, or on the street, or in a line-up. If you’re seeing this, you’re probably a friend. Hey! Come say hello! (@icff_official booth W863)

This maple and cherry model is the most sedate of the four modern rocking chairs you’ll be able to come wiggle your butt into at @icff_official in a few days. (May 17th-19th) Booth #W863 in the @wanteddesign section. Looking forward to hosting you and all your butts. #modernrockingchair #icff2026 #wanteddesign

Just wrapped @icff_official. It was three full days of expressed interest, admiration, and awe in Jared’s work. Before that it was ten days of prep in New York with the help of @atelier_cast, @bentclimb and @riteguystudio. Before that it was late night brochure design sessions with @rexxstudio. And before that it was 8 months of 16-hour work days in the woodshop in Stockton.
To say I’m proud of Jared is obvious. I know he’s one of the great American furniture designers and craftsmen (wouldn’t have married him otherwise 😆). But what I’ve been more astonished by is how many friends, family, and complete strangers(!) believe in him and have also been cheering him on in his success. So for everyone who has been following his work for years, and to everyone who just discovered him over these last few days, thank you. 🙏

The New Rocker, my brochure for ICFF 2026. Featuring an excerpt of an interview with me previously published in a TOTALLY real and not made up publication, photos, a custom NYT-style spelling bee game page (didn’t have time for a custom crossword.) This brochure could never have happened without the masterful graphic design help from @rexxstudio who took my colored-pencil drawings, overlong copy, and dumb ideas and edited them into this booklet I’m very proud of. Printed very quickly and beautifully by Benchmark Signaats in Brooklyn. If you want one, hit me up and I’ll intend to send you one (and might actually do it!)

Finished in the nick of time for @icff_official, this is my first woven seat rocking chair. It’s composed of raw denim belt loop strips stretched across a laminated oak seat frame, on one of my cantilevered oak rocker frames. I sent 9 yards of raw Japanese denim to Kermit @rogue_atelier_ra (a master of innumerable skills-
see his other account: @kratos_art_design ) who then sewed me 700 feet of strips on his 100yr old Union Special belt loop machine. From there, it was a humbling succession of false starts and mistakes in getting this challenging pattern (called “the mad weave”) to follow a 3-dimensional, curving, tapering frame. Despite the daunting number of hours this took, I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned to new woven designs stacking up in the queue. In meantime, I’ll probably spend countless more hours pushing this weave around with the maple poking tools I made before studio photos are taken. If you are at ICFF/@wanteddesign, please come have a seat and help me stretch it out. 😉 #modernrockingchair

Peek at another new modern rocking chair that will be on display at @icff_official / @wanteddesign (booth #W863). Locally sourced Acacia- like the sun filtering through a mug of root beer, with a little wider stance, sharper elbows, etc…. and a turned up crestrail at the top. #modernrockingchair #icff2026 #wanteddesign

Just trying to make these transition blocks fit nicely. 1/32nd rabbet to keep blocks from sliding around during glue-up (clamps slightly angled to push the tiny shoulder against the chair arm on the side with the inside curve). #modernrockingchair #Icff2026 #wantedesign #gluing

Changing small details on each rocker according to its vibe. Here’s a recent cherry crestrail with a hard line. (I even turned the warmth and saturation down but this steamed cherry is too powerful.) More 1/1 edition modern rocking chairs to debut at ICFF 2026. #modernrockingchair #wanteddesign #icff2026 #rockingchairdesign

A few process/kitchen appreciation shots
1: The Smeg! A wedding present from my mom because she was tired of hearing me and Jared fight about fridges.
2: This was taken a few days before our wedding (hosted in the space). Installing the dishwasher the night before, a massive leak sprang, ensuring a good mopping and the cleanest the floor had been up to that point.
3: My wall art project, inspired by our honeymoon in Japan and the asanoha, or hemp-leaf pattern.
4: Summer scene, kitchen looking cute. Cabinetry made by Jared, using existing knotholes instead of traditional handles. Artwork embroidered by my grandma.
5: New sofa, also made by Jared using vintage upholstery fabric sourced in Stockton and leather sourced in Sacramento. Everything else sourced from an old mattress we had on hand haha.
6: Cash’s new favorite spot, Jared and I are usually on either side.
7: Night scene, taken from the woodshop, facing the front of the space.
8: Cash wondering why I’m still in the hammock when I could be taking him for a walk.
E.O.

A few process/kitchen appreciation shots
