Israel Out of Eurovision 2026 or Cyprus Should Withdraw

We, a group of civil society organizations and individuals, call on CyBC to advocate for the exclusion of Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster, from the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

In 2022, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) excluded Russia’s public broadcaster from the Eurovision Song Contest, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Israel’s war in Gaza and Lebanon exceeds the “unprecedented crisis” threshold the EBU relied on in 2022. Yet Israel's broadcaster Kan remains eligible for Eurovision 2026.

If the EBU applied the same standard to Israel that it applied to Russia in 2022, KAN's exclusion would be immediate and unequivocal. The EBU must act consistently.

Until Israel’s public broadcaster Kan is banned from Eurovision, we call on CyBC to withdraw.

Το Λύκειο Αγίου Σπυρίδωνα Κάτω
Πολεμιδιών γιορτάζει φέτος τα 30χρονα του και
εγκαινιάζει τις «Βραδιές Πολιτισμού», μια σειρά
εκδηλώσεων που αφορούν στο πολιτιστικό
αποτύπωμα, όπως αυτό εγγράφεται στις τέχνες και στα
γράμματα.
Αρχή γίνεται με την εκδήλωση «Κινηματογράφος στο
Σχολείο – Movie Νight», στην Αίθουσα Προβολών του
σχολείου την Παρασκευή 06 Φεβρουαρίου στις 20:00
και η είσοδος θα είναι ελεύθερη προς το ευρύτερο
κοινό. Την πρόταση εισηγήθηκε και σχεδίασε το
Κεντρικό Μαθητικό Συμβούλιο του Σχολείου, σε
συνεργασία με δύο πολιτιστικούς φορείς: την
Κινηματογραφική Λέσχη Λεμεσού και το Queer Wave.
Θα προβληθεί με προσβάσιμους ελληνικούς
υπότιτλους η ισπανική ταινία Deaf (Sorda) της Eva
Libertad, που απέσπασε Βραβείο Κοινού στο Φεστιβάλ
Βερολίνου 2025 και τιμάται φέτος ως υποψήφια για το
πανευρωπαϊκό Βραβείο Κοινού LUX 2026. Η ταινία,
αφοπλιστική και υποβλητική, πραγματεύεται την
ιστορία μιας κωφής γυναίκας που βιώνει τη μητρότητα
ανάμεσα σε ακούοντες, και ευαισθητοποιεί το κοινό
της προς την ενσυναίσθηση και την ουσιαστική
συμπερίληψη. Την ταινία θα προλογίσει ο
επαγγελματίας κινηματογράφου Ντιέγκο Αρμάντο
Απαρίσιο, που φέτος εκπροσωπεί την Κύπρο στο
Young Talent Programme του Βραβείου LUX. Την
προβολή θα ακολουθήσει χαλαρή συζήτηση με το
κοινό.
Επιμέρους στόχος της δράσης είναι να συγκεντρωθούν
χρήματα για την ενίσχυση του Ταμείου Πρόνοιας, μέσα
από την ελεύθερη εισφορά του κοινού. Θα υπάρχουν
ποπ-κορν, σνακ, αναψυκτικά και χυμοί, με τη συμβολή
του Συνδέσμου Γονέων και Κηδεμόνων του Σχολείου.
