There are a lot of heroes in this world who often get left out of the conversation. @bluesfestbyronbay was surrounded by them. It has been the pinnacle of my photography career, full of friends and unforgettable experiences. I listened to one through a fence in 2002, and attended since 2006 (shooting 2007 then stuck out of the country for a few Bluesfests). Being invited into the team in 2015 for the 2016 festival is going in my memoir. Too late to get my pictures in the 2014 book, but a photo of me and Eric Bibb is in there. The team is just the best. Always ready as you can see. The other photographers who pilgrimage from around Australia and NZ are a joy. The list of icons I have photographed is long. My car park was next to Crossroads. The greatest loss is cultural and experiential, a loss that will accumulate over the years. Change, including loss, is unavoidable and we have photos to bring back the memories, smells and feelings. 7 days since I heard that the chapter is ending. I’m comforted to know that I’ll have sequels with some of my Bluesfest family. I’ll post Bluesfest moment… forever probably, the archive is deep. Thanks to EVERYONE involved.
