A feeling of "being one with the external world as a whole” (Sigmund Freud). In 2022, Japanese @kokinakano_ tried to translate the oceanic feeling into music with a deep and intimate album. Its artcover was painted by Jérôme Witz, who also dived into this complex state to come up with these artworks.

“I’m making a resume of my life. ‘Massa’ is telling people, ‘this is how I feel today’,” she says.

This June, she will headline Liverpool's @africaoye , marking 15 years since her UK debut at the festival. "They will be seeing a free woman, very free," she says of the upcoming performance.

Massa will be released by @noformatrecords on 5 June.
