The David Attenborough Issue - out now.
Thanks for being here 💛 @livelifeinflow

🗺️ It wasn’t until my plans for Antarctica were confirmed that I learned my great-grandparents had traveled there 60 years prior. (What I would giiive to find a photograph from their trip!)
I returned from the 7th continent feeling deeply connected to my family and to the global elders that inspire us all. Among those is David Attenborough 🩵 He has repeatedly instilled that this is a BLUE planet. And as you can probably tell from some of these photos, there is perhaps no place that shows this to be true in the way Antarctica does.
I’m so humbled and thrilled that @theflowtrip wanted to publish this little ode to the bottom of the world in their David Attenborough issue 🦋 I’m so grateful for the wonder that we pass between generations, and for the wild and astonishing planet that we all share 🩵
Order a copy of the epic print mag or check out the story online. Both via link in my bio 🕊️ and the BIGGEST thank you to @quarkexpeditions and @seabird_watch for allowing me to accompany them to the remotest place on our beautiful blue marble! Words, even in the best of magazines, will never be able to express my gratitude 🦋 #antarctica #blueplanet #climatestorytelling #naturewriting #polarexploration

NOW HIRING: Flow Trip Magazine needs two of you. It could be three, one, or even a stadium full, but two is ideal for now. Join the crew behind recent things, such as: The Whale Trip, Mallory’s Bubble Gun Battle, The Flow Photo Contest, an Oura Ring partnership, The David Attenborough Issue, and more. We’re looking for (two) good humans to join us full-time. And maybe that’s you and your identical twin. We’d ask if we could call you guys Jeff and Fred, but we’re open to other name ideas, too. Maybe this is for you. Maybe it’s for someone you know who is an excellent Editorial & Content Manager or would like to be our Member Services Lead for the magazine. Those are the two open spots. If you could kindly send them this Instagram post and see if they’re a fit? Thank you, Jeff and Fred. We like you guys already. Job openings in the link. Take’em high, Cole

THE STORY: Last minute, as one does, we needed a miracle. Hours on the clock and no one on the team had a favorite for cover options. We couldn’t exactly move David Attenborough’s 100th birthday without altering the space-time continuum again, freaking science, so we were stuck with getting the magazine to print on time to have for his bday. Then we recalled Kara and her animals from years earlier but couldn’t remember her Instagram handle or name or if she was still alive. We found her, we called her, she picked up. Turns out the world is small and kind and sometimes a talented illustrator you’ve never met will send you her army of animals with two hours to spare. The David Attenborough Issue cover by @karaemohr with plenty of time on the clock. Thank you, Kara. Alive and well. 😮💨💛

Big thank you to @benthouard @allegrahutton and @donalboyd for coming to see us for this. Quite the panel of judges. A day well spent fighting, yelling, and battling to the death over The 2026 Flow Photo Contest winners, finalists, and honorable mentions. Everything will be announced in The Photo Issue of Flow Trip Magazine — comes out in June. $50,000 big ones and a lot of love 💛

Today is the judging day for The 2026 Flow Photo Contest. Some might call it judgement day but that sounds scary and biblical so we’re calling it “a Wednesday in May with friends reviewing all the winners, finalists and honorable mentions”. If you happen to be in the Miami area we’re hosting a little shindig this evening 7 - 9 PM with all the judges who flew in from around the world to help today @benthouard @donalboyd @allegrahutton. We’ll also share a peek at the winners. Unfortunately for them they can’t win this year but they’ll be served a nice lunch and be locked in a room until they can agree on who is taking home the trophy and by trophy of course we mean a share of the $50,000. Hope to see you this evening if you can make it. Open bar and a couple hundred friends & family. Must RSVP. Them the rules. 698 NE 1st Ave Miami FL 33132. A Wednesday in May with friends.

100 YEARS: This is David. In 1954 this young gentleman was a producer on a UK television show called “Zoo Quest”. Someone up there must’ve had other plans because the original host became ill and David filled in for their absence.
Talk about taking the tiger by the tail, he became an overnight sensation in the United Kingdom and later worldwide, over time becoming the most influential voice in natural history broadcasting with groundbreaking shows such as “Life On Earth”, “The Living Planet”, “The Blue Planet” and “Planet Earth”. These documentaries set a new standard for natural history broadcasting.
Sir David Attenborough has been knighted twice, an unusual honor. He was knighted in 1985 (KBE) and later received the Order of Merit in 2005 - one of the highest honors in the UK.
Later in his career, Attenborough became a strong advocate for climate change awareness and biodiversity protection, influencing global audiences and world leaders alike. He is also the brother of the actor from Jurassic Park — the older gentleman with the cane and white beard who builds the park from dino DNA, John Hammond.
Please join us in wishing Sir David Attenborough a happy 100ty birthday today. One of the best.
We took the last 12 months or so and created The David Attenborough Issue of Flow Trip Magazine that comes out today. Leonardo DiCaprio, @mitty, @dougallancamera, @janegoodallinst and others were kind enough to get involved. This week at all the Flow properties we’re hosting giveback and cleanup days for parks, lakes, and beaches. We were unable to choreograph all the animals in the world, singing happy birthday at the same time, but there’s always next year.
Thank you, Sir David. Happy bday 🎂

Choreographing a film where all the animals in the world sing “Happy Birthday” at the same time has proven extremely difficult. So, you’re looking at the next best thing, a small thank-you note disguised as a magazine for Sir David Attenborough. It’s not every year the notable lad from England turns 100. Some might say that an entire edition of our publication dedicated to Sir David’s 100th birthday pales in comparison to the celebration of presence, wonder, and storytelling he has provided the world, and those people might be right. But here we are. A nod to the quiet miracles of things unfolding exactly as they should. Welcome to The David Attenborough Issue. Features, articles, photo journals, essays, and notes to Sir David from folks like @mitty, Doug Allan, @earthyave, @janegoodallinst, the guy from Titanic, a number of school kids, @wwf and many others. The fluke is the duke of soul. 💚

MONDAY READING: Laugh it up, Fuzzball. The team is currently sorting through a copious amount of quality, quality, and more quality entries to The 2026 Flow Photo Contest. Next week the panel of judges are all flying in to decide the winners, finalists and honorable mentions. We’ll be hosting a little event that night to celebrate all of the hard work. You’re invited. Then we’ll get to work on The Photo Issue of the magazine. Comes out in July. To make sure we’re leaving it all on the dance floor this month we’re releasing The David Attenborough Issue on May 8th because that’s Sir David’s 100th bday and we couldn’t choreograph all the animals in the world to get together and sing for him at the same time so we created one of the best things we’ve ever done and somehow got @mitty and the guy from Titanic and @earthyave and many others involved. Then we’re hosting The Week of David with film screenings of his new gorilla documentary at all the Flow properties and hosting community giveback and clean up efforts with local organizations this month. And then we’ll have to figure out this Surf Trip giveaway. We’ve all got things to do. Thank you for being here. This is the way.
