🍭 Animating through reflow. Can 2D morphing text fields create an organic layout?

Working on a small design/writing tool in which we treat 2D type as a liquid skin. No 3D objects, just morphing text fields that create a constant dynamic flow.

From battling water to befriending it 💧 — glimpses of our contribution to the Netherlands Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka. 🇯🇵

Together with our long-time friends at Tellart, we designed the Touch-Activated Timelines of Water — a series of responsive Water Walls that invite visitors to explore centuries of Dutch innovation and coexistence with water. 🌊

Through gesture-driven visuals, each wall reveals a new chapter in our evolving relationship with water.

More documentation soon 👀

Created with AND B.V., a collaboration between Tellart, RAU Architects (@rau.architects ), DGMR (@dgmradviseurs ), and Asanuma (@asanuma_official ).

A character emerges from the cave, scrolling.

Some snippets of “First Person Scroller”, a visual essay created by Superposition and @cybervolta as a contribution to the current Memememememe exhibition at the @mediamajlismuseum

The film invites audiences to explore memes and their impact on our inner voice. Experienced through the POV of a pathological scroller, this first-person journey is marked by the endless drone and overwhelming memetic noise of platform culture.

Created entirely within a custom Grand Theft Auto V environment, the work immerses the viewer in audiovisual excess, until even the inner voice takes on the junk rhythms of the feed.

As a descent into the endless scroll, this work constructs a first-person perspective of the social feed as a Sisyphean non-space. Utilizing the appropriated architecture of a commercial video game, a world already designed around consumption and violence, its logic is modded into a recursive loop of information anxiety. Inner thought is rendered externally as a barrage of generated text, manifesting the psychic condition of the networked subject: a vessel for viral vernacular and spam, animated by algorithms.

The viewer has to track multiple streams at once and becomes part of a simulation where everything is a reference to a reference. Here social worlds are built upon great, buzzing memetic transmissions— vistas and soundscapes where repetition is king. The work “insists upon itself.”

Memememememe runs till Dec 4th, 2025 in the Media Majlis Museum @nuqatar in Qatar.

Texture Map and a Chair,

Jacquard-woven tapestry (150x150 cm) and hand-painted solid oak shaker chair (height 75 cm, width 48 cm, depth 49 cm)

An exploration of how humans and computers co-create and interpret images.

The tapestry unwraps the painted wooden skin of the chair into a digital texture made tangible through weave. The chair, a Shaker chair by Atelier Van Lieshout, becomes a canvas where this digital texture is traced back onto wood by the human hand. Together, the two works reflect and reference each other as object and image, digital and physical, in a conversation.

This approach nods to Joseph Kosuth’s One and Three Chairs by exploring how form and meaning shift as they move between digital process and physical object, revealing the changing relationship between representation, perception, and reality.

In an era where we once relied on trained journalists for clarity on current affairs, the rise of machine learning has ushered in a world of artificial intelligence where the boundaries between fact and fiction, right and wrong, truth and falsehood, have become increasingly blurred.

This is a small collection of speculative instruments shown during the spring exhibition “Ai or Nay” at @mediamajlismuseum to map out essential skills and tools that shape modern journalism in the age of artificial intelligence.

For the exhibition “Ai or NAY? Artificial vs. Intelligent” at @mediamajlismuseum , we created the film “Where Do They Stand?”

It presents investigative interactions with four different large language models — Llama 3.1, JAIS, Mistral Large, and Yi 1.5 — colloquially known as AI chatbots. These interactions explore the potential and pitfalls of using such technology for truth-finding, and how our prompts shape the responses. The scenes highlight both the strengths and limitations of these models, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and exposing the inherent biases and differences in their training.

An excerpt from The Building Blocks of AI and Journalism - a periodic table of speculative instruments to map out essential skills and tools that shape modern journalism in the age of artificial intelligence.

For the exhibition “Ai or Nay” at @mediamajlismuseum we designed an interactive experience in which visitors are invited to explore, examine, and engage with the complex interplay between journalism and artificial intelligence through a curated selection of case studies, user experiences, and thought-provoking ideas. Each instrument holds a story, an insight, or a glimpse into the future of journalism.

Insight and ignorance have long coexisted, but in an era where we once relied on trained journalists for clarity on current affairs, the rise of machine learning has ushered in a world of artificial intelligence where the boundaries between fact and fiction, right and wrong, truth and falsehood, have become increasingly blurred.

Really happy to have fruitfully collaborated on this with @sjoerd.mol
