Class speaker Isra Fejzullaj reflected on a shared journey defined by uncertainty, growth, and perseverance.

Northwestern University Provost-Elect Erik Luijten addressed the Class of 2026, recognizing their resilience and the global perspective they bring.

At this year’s graduation ceremony, Dean Marwan M. Kraidy reflected on the concept of muruna, an Arabic expression of resilience grounded in purpose and principle.
He encouraged graduates to remain steady in times of uncertainty, and to approach the world with both ambition and integrity.

Northwestern University in Qatar celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026, marking an important milestone for 123 students representing 22 countries.

This year’s cohort reflects both national strength and global diversity, shaped by a period of rapid change and uncertainty. Throughout their time at NU-Q, they developed the skills to navigate complexity, think critically, and tell stories with purpose.

As they step forward as alumni, they carry with them a shared commitment to Northwestern’s values of excellence, responsibility, curiosity, and impact.

Dr. Majed Mohammed Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, will deliver the 2026 Graduation address at @NUQatar.

Across three days, 35 presenters delivered 29 sessions as part of the University’s expanded pavilion programming, connecting research on media, technology, AI, and society with global industry, policy, and public audiences.

H.E. Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani ’14, director of Qatar’s Government Communication Office, returned to Northwestern Qatar at Web Summit Qatar 2026 for a public conversation on the evolving role of government communication. He joined @nuqdean Kraidy for a special edition of the Dean’s Global Forum hosted at the University Pavilion.

Amna Essa Hilal Al Kuwari, a 2025 graduate of Northwestern University in Qatar, has received the Platinum Medal at the 19th Qatar Education Excellence Award ceremony, earning the highest national distinction for academic and societal excellence. Her recognition marks a historic milestone as the first Northwestern Qatar alumna to receive the Platinum Medal, the program’s most prestigious honor.

“I’m so proud of Amna. This is a significant milestone for her but also inspiring for our entire community. Amna represents the intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary courage, and public-minded leadership that define Northwestern Qatar. A graduate with minors in Middle East Studies and Media and Politics, Al Kuwari is currently completing a master’s degree and plans to pursue a PhD in the near future. “For me, learning is a lifelong responsibility,” she said. “Whether in academia or public service, I want my work to contribute to knowledge production in Qatar and beyond. The Platinum Medal motivates me to continue striving for impact that is both local and global.”
