Speculative Futures – Agency in the Present

S()fia Braga in conversation with Eva Fischer

As a spin-off to the exhibition “Platform Wars,” curated by Mona Schubert @silver_iodide, Italian artist S()fia Braga @wassilychair presents her AI-generated short films “The Artificial Conjuring Circle” (2023) and “Third Impact” (2025). Eva Fischer @eva0707, curator of @civa_at festival, Vienna, will lead through the screening.

The conversation will be held in English language.

S()fia Braga (b. 1991) is an Italian transmedia artist and a leading voice in AI-driven cinematic storytelling based in Vienna (AT). Her work explores emerging technologies with a focus on human-non-human collaboration, more-than-human agency, and the power dynamics of centralized social media platforms.

Platform Wars, Opening Soon 👾
After two years of pushing this idea forward, I’m thrilled to announce „Platform Wars“, a group show I’m presenting with my amazing friends at @cameraaustriagraz Can’t wait to finally share what we’ve been cooking up over the past months!

Opening:
March, 13, 18:00, in Graz

The group exhibition „Platform Wars“, named after Joshua Citarella’s blog series, explores how centralized online platforms have developed from channels for exchanging texts or images into powerful political and economic infrastructures. In no way are they neutral places for saving user-generated content, for they in fact exert enormous influence on our everyday lives through algorithmic curation, invisible moderation systems, and user guidelines. These platforms’ inner workings influence not only cultural production, but also the social dynamics of visibility, the formation of identity, and the shaping of political opinions.
The artistic works by S()fia Braga, Joshua Citarella, Jakob Ganslmeier & Ana Zibelnik, Zarina Nares, and Frida Orupabo investigate how capitalist imperatives determine the attention economy, how hierarchical systems spread within online communities, and how postdigital aesthetics change visual culture. Together, they paint a multi-layered picture of platform cultures and potential forms of resistance.

Stay tuned!

2. Joshua Citarella, Queer Transhumanist Anarchism, from the series: e-deologies, 2020-2025,
3. S()fia Braga, still from: Platform Workshippers, 2023–2025.
4. Zarina Nares, still from: Meditation for Releasing The Capitalist Patriarchy Within, 2022.
5. Frida Orupabo, still from: Untitled, 2018. Courtesy: the artist and Galerie Nordenhake Berlin/Stockholm/Mexico City.

Curatorial tour · November 27, 18h ✨
@evakahanfoundation

As a closing event, I invite you to join me for a guided visit to @bedekincsohilda first solo show in Austria.

Kincső Bede: Grenzwächter (9.10–29.11.2025)

The title “Grenzwächter” (border patrol) not only points to the historical past of the Székler community, who once secured the eastern border of the Kingdom of Hungary, but also to the experience of being forced into a surveillant communist system. The German word „Grenze“ carries double meaning, referring both to physical, political borders and to the invisible boundaries between generations, memories, and identities. Bede’s photographs, taken in her parents home, mediate between the experiences of the older generation, who lived under socialism and often remain silent about it, and the younger generation, who live with the repercussions without having experienced such a constrained life themselves.

Thank you, Kincső, for your trust, your vision, and your incredible talent — it has been an honour to work with you on this exhibition. 🖤
Also big thanks to @angelazachbuchmayer for the invitation and support 💫

First month of „Science/Fiction. A Non-History of Plants“ is over! Such a great collab with Clothilde Morette and @vicaresheva of @mep.paris 🌱 A big thank you to all the artists and collections that made this come to life in Vienna!

The show runs until January, 18, 2026 ✨
@foto_arsenal_wien

What if plants were more intelligent than we think? What if they observe, communicate—perhaps even dream?

„Science/Fiction – A Non-History of Plants“ is an in-depth exploration of the history of plants in photography and lens-based media, connecting art, technology, and science from the 19th century to the present. Rather than following a linear chronology, the exhibition is structured around two focal points: science and fiction.

Artists:
Laure Albin Guillot, Anna Atkins, Karl Blossfeldt, Henry Bradbury, Stan Brakhage, Jean Comandon, Gohar Dashti, Agnes Denes, Rebekka Deubner, Elspeth Diederix, Kalev Erickson, Constantin Freiherr von Ettingshausen, Éléonore False, Joan Fontcuberta, Olga Grotova, Ali Kazma, Samir Laghouati-Rashwan, Jochen Lempert, Angelika Loderer, Angelica Mesiti, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, Alice Pallot, ThePsycholudicResearchGroup (Margarete Jahrmann, Thomas Wagensommerer, among others), Agnieszka Polska, Max Reichmann, Albert Renger-Patzsch, Almudena Romero, Philippe Roux, Miljohn Ruperto & Ulrik Heltoft, Steve Sekeley & Freddie Francis, Timur Si-Qin, William Henry Fox Talbot, Richard Tepe, Anaïs Tondeur, Edward Weston

Kincső Bede: Grenzwächter (9.10.-29.11.2025)
@evakahanfoundation

I am so happy for the opening of @bedekincsohilda first solo show in Austria. Our collab started with an article I wrote on her photographic work, published @datumsdz for @foto_arsenal_wien. And then, on a train ride to Arles, I happened to meet @angelazachbuchmayer and explored a photobook shop with her. Thank you both for inviting me to curate this show 🖤

What struck me most when looking at Kincső’s work is how it makes visible something many of us carry silently: the weight of histories we did not choose, the echoes of political systems that continue to shape families, identities, and everyday life long after they officially ended - and how to navigate between generations.

The show is on view until end of November 💫
