Bonjour, Library of Congress (again)! We’re thrilled to support Mélange Dance Theatre through our Le Lab program—and even more excited to share that, thanks to this collaboration, they’ll present their amazing show,Love Letters of World War II, at the Library of Congress this September. To celebrate, Mélange will offer a special preview performance at our May 8 gala at the Pitot House. And as you can see, it’s going to be absolutely stunning. Only a few tickets left. When I stepped behind the mic last October for International Creole Heritage Month, I had no idea we'd end up here today. But y'all was really out here supportin' ya boy heavy and encouraging me to keep pushin' with this project, and I'm so glad y'all did. Reaching new heights. Le Lab is a cultural incubator supporting Louisiana’s Creole, Cajun, and Indigenous heritage cultures, as well as minority language cultures across the U.S. Laureates receive professional workshops, monthly mentorship, and a tailored fundraising and communications strategy to bring their projects to life. Since 2021, Le Lab laureates have raised $350,000, secured Guggenheim and Mellon grants, presented at the Library of Congress, and launched nonprofits and startups of their own. Apply by July 10: link in bio.

Atteindre de nouveaux sommets. Le Lab est notre incubateur culturel visant à soutenir les cultures cadiennes, créoles et autochtones de Louisiane, ainsi que les langues minoritaires présentes aux Etats-Unis. Nos lauréat.e.s participent à des ateliers mensuels et ont accès à des conseils personnalisés, notamment en matière de levée de fonds et de communication pour les aider à donner vie à leur projet. Recap of the opening of « La goutte qui déborde du vase » 💧

Establishing the atmosphere of the evening, pianist Ariela Bohrod gently submerged us into the lyricism of Debussy and Ravel. Trumpetist Fabien Enger and composer/musician Augustin Braud followed Bohrod in an improvised set exploring the textures of sound, mixing acoustic jazz trumpet, sound samples of materials used in the exhibition, and modular synths.

It was such an inspiration to be able to work alongside such talented musicians, and such a privilege to have had them contribute their range of talents to « La goutte ». Forever incredibly touched by their brilliance and generosity, by those who came to see it, and by those who gave us all space to create and experiment 🩶
