The past few years have been a roller coaster, but ultimately they’ve brought me to a place of real discovery. After experiencing multiple losses, I chose to do the work and try to understand myself more clearly.

I was raised by people who didn’t know what they were doing. Over time and work , I’ve come to see that it wasn’t their fault—it’s generational and I have finally forgiven them . Now, being something of an “orphan,” I have the freedom to reflect on my childhood and how it shaped my adult relationships.

That process led me to understand my obsession with cartoons and toys. Growing up in a chaos and dysfunction , you find ways to escape. For me, that was cartoons and action figures—worlds that offered protection, structure, and control.
What I’ve realized is that I wasn’t just drawn to them—I was using them. I surrounded myself with cartoon monsters and super-animals as a way to feel protected from what I was living through.

I only fully understood this recently. So if my work or behavior has ever seemed unusual, this could explain where it may partially come from.

This piece is a commission for a friend’s child. I’m always honored when collectors ask me to make work for their kids—art meant a lot to me when I was young.

And to be clear: these works are entirely hand-painted. No stickers—just paint, all by my hand.

If any of you have questions about my healing journey , hit me
