I want to take a moment to talk about #ptsd on here. Covid nearly killed me in 2020 (not in a she is being dramatic type way, but in a very literal was gasping for air and my oxygen was too low type one), and it has been a long 6years of healing towards some semblance of feeling more like myself. I can still only eat 5 safe foods, take a ton of meds to function as well as I currently do, and a whole slew of other things everyday that no one really cares to know about. Because of my Covid infection I now have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and I spent years afraid of touching the floor because chemicals, cat dander, and all sorts of lotions/potions can make my breathing tight from just getting them on my skin.

This video is proof of healing, and life - this journey has been (and continues to be) very difficult. I’m grateful for something as seemingly small as doing Floorwork again… it is a sign of wellness instead of one of illness; thank you, G-d and therapy, and thank you to everyone who has shown up in a million small and big ways as I have continued to dig my way through it.

Hello and Happy Sunday from my having a whole face🩷

The logistics of my being safe to be maskless in a dance studio are complicated… it either requires that people are willing to protect me (THANK YOU to everyone who ever has/does), or it requires that no one has been in the space for several hours before me to ensure no lingering germs hanging in the air. You can see how this either makes me burdensome, or challenging. My spirit has been really craving normalcy, a luxury taken for granted until you lose it, and my wonderful Bosses at @bdcnyc found me studio time that fit the criteria and so kindly gave me this gift.

I bolted into the studio this morning at 8:30am after being in rehearsal last night until late, so excited to dance… my warmup was running down 9th avenue - the joy in my heart from being able to feel normal for approximately 25 early-morning minutes today was beyond.

Patiently waiting for a clearance to be safe to be mask free in the studio with others, and all of the time… but my G-d, I will certainly take this with gratitude for now🙏✨

We will hit 200 Young Choreographers presented in June; a milestone in our 15th year that brings me both pride and joy.
