DANCING IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN! Or not? Tonight is my favourite day of the year for DJing, as it's that special Friday where there's a general TANZVERBOT in German, in memory or he who died at the cross. So, officially , you are not allowed to dance.

We'll celebrate playing tunes with my friend @riembauet at my favourite μπαράκι @misirloubar -- join us, from 21:00 or so.

It can go two ways: either we take the opportunity to play the undanceable, or we go for the irresistible and check how long it takes you to sin.

Crazy how it's 2026, there's about 300.000 Brazilian records in that online record database that we all built, and yet it's not complete.

I'll be using these undocumented 7"s to replenish the heavily depleted crates of Brazilian goodies that I'll take to the upcoming @recordplanet fair; I'll also do a good deed for record nerdiness and add them to that database, yes. Sharing is caring, right? RIGHT???

To all Brazilian music enthusiasts:

We have another in-store concert coming up, this time with instrumentalist Mauricio Fleury. We’ve known each other since the release of the Bixiga 70 albums around 2011. Since then, Mauricio has been a key figure in the São Paulo music scene and is now based in Berlin.

He recently released his solo album Revoada on Altercat, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming him for a live performance in our store basement.

Attendance is limited, so please reserve your spot via reservation@rushhour.nl.

After the concert, stick around for a small dance session with Palo Santo and Edo Vintage Voudou.

Both show new directions in jazz in Latin America, the need to explore new territory whilst remaining firmly rooted in their own identity. Viejas Raíces (volume 1 coming soon insha'Allah!) being more out there, and Pelo de Rata being more personal and introspective -- yes, but they fit so well.
