For Monique Thompson, a Pasadena native and member of Volta Drum & Dance, the journey of healing after surgery has meant finding her way back to rhythm, movement, and community.

After the fires, Volta found a new home at DENA Heals, a community space that has supported both Monique’s personal healing and joy in teaching and sharing Ghanaian culture.

Together, they remind us that healing happens when we have safe spaces to gather, create, and care for one another.
