Growing up as Vietnamese individuals in the Netherlands, we never saw ourselves reflected in the media. However, with changing times, and the founding of our collective, we aspire to both present and represent our community collectively. Through our projects and the impact we create, we aim to showcase Vietnamese creativity and give it its rightful platform.

As a collective we work in bigger, overarching themes. For our very first theme, called ‘Identity & self-discovery’ we want to invite our community to turn inwards and focus on our inner world: what helps us shape our Vietnamese identity? The Nodey Process reveals an intimate, universal story of French-Vietnamese hip-hop and electro producer @nodeynguyen who is part of a creative generation that redefines masculinities and builds bridges between the West and the rest of the world.

L’équipe du film “The Nodey Process” nous a proposé d’organiser la dernière projection parisienne de son documentaire (20+ sélections en festival dans le monde, et a reçu le Prix du Public au Unerhoert Film Festival 2021, Mention Spéciale du Jury du festival Musical Ecran 2021.)

✍️Synopsis :
Comment le compositeur franco-vietnamien Nodey se nourrit de ses racines asiatiques, ses ambitions artistiques, et son mode de vie nomade pour composer son premier album solo ? Entre Paris, Shanghai, et Saïgon, le documentaire accompagne pendant cinq ans sa transformation, de beatmaker pour la scène hip-hop française (Youssoupha, Orelsan, Flynt, etc.) à musicien éclectique aux multiples inspirations, de l’électro à la pop saigonnaise des années 60.

💡C’est en regardant @thenodeyprocess que ça m’a donné l’impulsion de commencer Banh Mi le blog, puis le podcast… autant vous dire que ce film est très symbolique pour moi, comme pour nombreux auditeur.ice.s dont je reçois les messages.

Dope news: our movie received a special award from the jury, which makes @thenodeyprocess on the festival top 3 amongst a few hundreds of submitted projects 🏆 💪

We're proud of this recognition from this festival and its rock initial background, proving that bridges can be made between different music genres and communities, and that our own hip-hop and diaspora / immigrant stories are completely legit in these festivals. Let’s hope they will be more and more in the docu ecosystem 🏗📈

Congrats to the other awarded movies: In a Silent Way and @the.rumba.kings.film it feels great to be between y'all 🤝
