It was amazing to see people ready to give bachata a go for the first time on Sunday! We had so much fun sharing our world with you for the first time.

If you’ve been following along at home, this is your sign to get off the couch and join us!

Getting started can be daunting. As adults we’re not used to being beginners. But once you get past that, you realise how much fun it is to learn a new skill!

To everyone that has been motivated to learn bachata, or come to our classes from seeing our videos- thank you 🥰

It’s incredible to see our community growing and so many adults inspired to give it a go. We started as beginners too and never did it with the goal of teaching- it was just a fun way to spend otherwise boring nights on the couch.

Most people express interest and then find a reason they can’t start now. Some wait years till they come back to it. But time is going to pass whether you start now, in a few weeks or a few years.

Wouldn’t you rather get to the future being able to dance? 💃🕺🏽

Without traditional bachata there is no bachata sensual, bachata influence, bachazouk, ConRi style etc

Working on your traditional bachata alongside the other styles you enjoy dancing will only help to improve the richness of your dances.

It will give you more tools to use, more understanding of the music structure and the way the ground is used to create different footwork and hip movement.

Gemma has just returned from Sydney with a 🥇 plus is a certified traditional bachata instructor- so you’re in great hands!

Let’s flip the script together and stop using traditional songs as the time we take a drink break and instead make it the time we get to be playful and musical!

✨ We are keeping Perth on the National Podium for another year! ✨

To have our Principal Instructor and a student place in competitions that were judged on social dancing, and dancing real bachata is a testament to the work we put in behind the scenes.

We’re so proud to be sharing this moment with not only one of our students, but also a close friend.

Shilpa, watching you shine and stay kind to yourself was such a good reminder that competitions don’t need to come with pressure and stress. There is an option where we choose to enjoy the moment and just be ourselves.

We’re still celebrating our wins from the weekend, but one of the moments we can’t look past is this.

Laura and Shilpa, it takes courage to enter a competition. Especially in a city where you don’t know anyone- but you both did so well at staying true to yourselves.

Often coming to these events from Perth can be nerve wracking and intimidating - but you both proved that our distance isn’t holding us back.

Thank you for being part of our first Refinery Dance team and trip. What a way to remember it!
