An Island Unto Their Own brings together Amos Ferguson and Cat Glass,two voices shaped by faith, community, and the beauty of Exuma. From vivid storytelling to hand-painted island scenes, their work reflects a shared truth: art lives in the places and people that shape it.

Opening April 11, 12–5pm at the N.I.B. Building in George Town, between the Insurance Management and National Insurance Board offices. The exhibition runs through June 11, 2026. Come out and experience it for yourself! 🎨

Friends of Exuma Board Director Amy Butler recently toured the Georgetown Park redevelopment project, an inspiring initiative led by the@baymahni team, with Rodney Burrows working tirelessly alongside all local partners to reimagine and redevelop this important community space.

The vision is thoughtful and far-reaching, and the transformation is well underway with plans for two new pickleball courts, a resurfaced basketball court, a refurbished bandstand, a children's play structure, new seating and landscaping, and a future two-story hub featuring concessions, restrooms, and a learning center with donated computers for youth and community use.

Friends of Exuma is proud to support this initiative and its vision: a safe, engaging, and uplifting space for families, residents, and visitors alike, right in the heart of Georgetown.

Some people visit Exuma and fall in love with the water. Bill and Carol Sanford fell in love with the people. 💙

It started in 2005, anchored off Little Farmers Cay, they went ashore and found a one-room school with one teacher and nine students. That moment sparked nearly two decades of commitment to this community, starting with placing computers in 12 primary schools serving over 400 students.

Bill, a Founding Board Director of Friends of Exuma, believes in supporting organisations at every stage, especially the ones that don't always get the spotlight. "There are important community programmes that aren't always initially as organised or well resourced. Those groups often need the most help building their capacity." Carol puts it simply: "It all begins with kids." We came for the beauty. But we stayed because of the people."
