Saturday 6th June,come celebrate Pride Month and 3 incredible years of our amazing Queer Climb community 🌈

Join us from 12pm–4pm (and of course, you’re very welcome to stay afterwards for drinks!)
The Secret Garden will remain open to everyone throughout the day, but please bear in mind it may be busier than usual.

The event is open to all LGBTQIA+ climbers, whether it’s your very first time on the wall or you’re already part of the community, and will be hosted by our amazing @evolutionofelios

We’ve got a limited number of Early Bird tickets available, so grab yours via the link in bio before they’re gone. We also have a few spaces available for anyone who needs them, just give us a call or pop in at reception to speak to the team.

“ELIOS” — a re-introduction.

This is something I've been thinking about for well over a year and a half, and at the end of 2025 it all finally clicked into place. If I'm honest I was struggling with surnames – family’s complicated, y’know?

I also chose to bring my Greek surname back, this time as my middle name – something that feels grounding and true.

I took my time working out what felt right, made the change in my personal life (still need to do my deed poll 😅), and now I’m really happy to share this with you – taking my new name into a new year.

I’m so grateful for the boundless support from my family and friends. I rlly <3 you.

“Hi, I’m Elios Douglas (@evolutionofelliot), an actor, musician, climber… and proudly deaf and trans,” he says. “I believe in in-person community spaces where there’s room for everyone,” he adds, pausing to tap his red hearing aids. “I like making my disability visible. If I take them out, it’s practically silent – so I wear them loud and proud.” After nearly snagging a part in Sex Education (“getting to the top two taught me my transness and deafness aren’t barriers, they’re unique selling points”), Douglas landed his first proper gig on Heartstopper in 2023. “Doing that one-minute scene was a revelation,” he says with a grin. His journey is stitched together by bold cuts, like having short hair to show off his hearing aids, auditions that defy drama-school dogma and getting to the top of peaks, literal (he regularly scales climbing walls) or metaphorical. “Taking ownership of what once made me feel like shit – and turning it bright?” he says. “That’s powerful.”

Forgive us for getting a little bit emotional, but the Queer Climb Pride Party wasi n c r e d i b l eand we can’t thank you all enough for showing up - not just for this event, but for each other and for every queer climb social over the years.

We just want to take this opportunity to shout out @evolutionofelliot. 2 years ago, Elliot started these socials to try to continue making space for LGBTQIA+ people, as he noticed that after the pandemic a lot of socials and events had failed to restart. Since then, he has been the life and soul of Queer Climb, and has worked tirelessly to host and help people to connect and find friends, find community, and find support.

The impact of this work is undeniable - you just have to listen to the way people talk about Queer Climb to know how much it means... That feeling of needing to find spaces to connect with people who are like you - to put it in Elliot’s words - ‘it’s not an individual experience, babe.’

So cheers to Elliot, to everyone who has been a part of these socials over the past 2 years, and to many more years of Queer Climb to come! <3
