Nila x Plove: The Inner Flow Nordic Edition collection is based on hand-drawn lines with a marker, the irregularity of which gives the motifs liveliness and energy. The colors are drawn from the Nordic landscape - from the depth of the fjords, the structure of lichens, the taste of licorice and the frosty beauty of forest berries. The result is the Fjord and Veksta models. Designed by a founder of Plove @pavlina_miklasova_

◾️#DesignBlokSelects: Hurvajz is celebrating his 100th anniversary, and Tereza Talichová, aka @tititi_cz, has joined the celebrations. @divadlosh approached last year’s winner of the Designblok Award for Best Designer Presentation to design her own version of the greatest Czech rascal. The first two figures were created for the theater, and now Tereza is releasing another ten limited-edition Hurvíneks for collectors. In some ways, she stays closer to the look of the original puppet by puppeteer Gustav Nosek, based on Josef Skupa’s design, but she playfully disrupts and shifts its features. Would you believe that even without arms and legs, he remains cheekily expressive? You can just hear him shouting his signature Chachááá!
~

◾️#DesignBlokSelects: What used to begin and end with glass for @lukasnovak04 is now opening up to a broader material realm. In the current exhibition Silica at @galerieubetlemskekaple, the focus shifts from surface, gloss, and control to something less stable: growth, pressure, and layering. The exhibition was curated by @michal_stochl in collaboration with @kodlcontemporary, with some of the works created at Studio Lhotský. In these pieces, glass enters into tension with concrete and mineral structures; it loses its autonomy and becomes part of an open, and therefore less predictable, whole. Instead of forming a perfect product, Lukáš Novák creates dynamic situations. The matter bears traces of sedimentation, crystallization, and internal pressure; transparency collides with density, fragility with weight, and precision with randomness. During the DesignBlok festival, he also presented his seven vices as part of the emblematic High Craft project at the Prague Castle Riding School, where High Craft is returning again this year.
~
Sklo v nich vstupuje do napětí s betonem a minerálními strukturami, ztrácí svou autonomii a stává se součástí otevřeného a tím pádem méně předvídatelného celku.

FURIOSA X ALEXANDER BEL: Love Hurts ring is a reminder of the courage to stay true to yourself. Necklace Self symbolizes a return to who you really are. Groupie ring celebrates the energy of women who take what they want. Rock Star ring belongs to those who don’t wait for permission. TheYou are so rock’n’roll collection is completed by the Rock’n’rolla necklaces and earrings, the Underground bracelet, and the Misfit earrings — jewelry inspired by the energy of clubs, stages, and a world where rebellion isn’t a pose, but a way of life.

“Rock’n’roll, to me, means having the courage to be yourself — even when it’s not always easy. Not fitting in, not apologizing, and standing firmly behind who you are. That’s the attitude I wanted to bring into this collection. I didn’t want to create jewelry that simply complements an outfit, but pieces that express who you are. That’s why these are bold designs that don’t fade into the background, but instead highlight the wearer’s character. The finish is also important — smooth at first glance, but over time it develops subtle imperfections with wear. And it’s precisely these that give each piece its unique character and turn it into a personal statement,” says designer Alexander Bel.

◾️#DesignBlokSelects: Currently on display at the London gallery @_mintshop_ is the exhibition Break with Care, where @hanavopravilova explores the tension between fragility and strength through transformed and reassembled materials. She presents glass objects from the PAP – Paper As Patterner collection, created using paper structures as single-use molds that leave delicate reliefs and imprints in the glass. Each piece thus becomes a unique record of both the process and a material that no longer exists, yet remains present.

Hana is a regular exhibitor at Designblok, and Lina Kanafani, the owner and curator of @_mintshop_ , frequently visits our festival to scout talent for her gallery. We are thrilled that Designblok serves as a platform that successfully introduces Czech design to the world.

“When we spoke a year ago, Hana emphasized that her main focus was on the process and exploring the material’s possibilities, and that she didn’t have a clear strategy for her post-graduation career. Back then, she talked about searching for a direction—but today, perhaps precisely because she gave herself that freedom, she has established herself as one of the fresh voices in contemporary collectible design,” adds Danica.

FRANCIS DE NIM (František Matoušek) x MONIKA DRAPALOVÁ (studio Modra). Until now, this collaboration had been presented the other way around, with Monika introducing her new fashion collections enriched by František’s artistic interventions into denim. This time, the roles are reversed.
At the Galerie Miroslava Kubíka, as part of the Litomyšlpolis exhibition, her “crucified” model takes center stage. Also on display are the Madonna from Osík canvases, where Francis collaborated with Petra Gupta Valentová. You’ll also encounter Saint Zdeněk Fránek, Cigler’s cross, and the divine reflections of Winy Maas. A thoughtful, cool sacral exhibition — definitely worth the trip. #artcollab #litomysl

◾️ #DesignBlokSelects: The Paradiso packaging and bottle have already been spiced up with a Paralyzed Poem, an illustrated poodle, and hand-painted motifs like a tiger, heron, dragon, and palm tree. This year’s limited edition by Pigmentarium takes a different route. No words, no drawings, just pure tactile design. The project was given absolute creative freedom by Greta Vrabcová, a graphic design and visual communication student at UMPRUM. She interpreted the carefree spirit of summer, along with the fragrance’s grapefruit base, as an ode to imperfection and the kind of happiness that comes despite it, or maybe because of it. “To feel free enough to be imperfect. To live life to the fullest: run, scream, feel, move, chase what you want and never doubt it. Paradise is here, without a single worry.” That’s why the orange Paradiso box and glass flacon are decorated with bold, fingerprints — the kind left behind by hands greasy from sunscreen or melting ice cream.
