Shop Ramen Brunswick 2024
A recent collaboration with the good people at @shopramen and @olaver_architecture on the new Brunswick location. The light touch ethos employed by Olaver Architecture boldly embraces the existing conditions of the site. The new additions carry a lightness in their simplicity of form and modular nature, giving contrast to the old rugged bones of the building. The combination of brushed aluminium and warm tones of tassie oak have a give and take in the way that they absorb and reflect light.

Big thanks to all the amazing people involved.

Onsen Inspired Bath Cover 2020
Celery Top Pine and Jarrah
Throughout 2019-2020 I had the pleasure of working with @locbuild on @ha_arc ‘s incredible courtyard yard house. The residence has a beautiful heritage facade that was propped and retained throughout the building process. The original roofline cleverly connects the old and new addition discreetly concealing the 6.5m ceiling height at the rear of the extension, at the heart of the home is a beautiful Japanese garden. Nearing the end of the project I was commissioned by the owners to build a Japanese Onsen inspired bath cover using Australian native timbers. The cover is a four piece unit designed to gather at the end of the bath when in use. Jarrah sliding dovetail tenons allow for timber movement with the fluctuation in humidity and temperature. The use of Jarrah was a homage to pre existing heritage Jarrah sill that everyone involved in the project stepped over to enter the home.

Announcing Felled — presented as part of Melbourne Design Week.
Felled reimagines timber supply sources in contemporary woodworking practice. Seven makers with specialised knowledge of timber engage the material beyond newly processed, machined slabs and find possibilities in existing materials.
Artists:
Andy Ward, Bolaji Teniola, Craig Murphy-Wandin, Jess Humpston, Kyoko Hashimoto & Guy Keulemans and Mark Lilly
The exhibition forms part of Conscious Craft – a movement to redefine our relationship with materials in a considered, responsible and responsive way.

Scale models have slowly become a constant in my design process. Although seemingly backwards and low tech I find this process to be helpful in a multitude of ways. For me it is the quickest path to get an idea out of my head without squashing it with my embarrassing drawing ability. In the model making process I am able to dial in details and proportions in a more instinctual way and resolve construction and connection details on the fly. I will use the model as a guide while working on a piece and hone in on any finer details at full scale. One of the best things for me about this process is you have something tangible to present to your clients to sit with and discuss, it’s also a great opportunity to catch the initial gut reaction which for me will drive the next steps.

Ending the year on a high, installing the final project of 2025 today — for none other than @poodlefitzroy with @andyward___ ✨ Andy has worked incredibly hard to bring this one to life, pulling together a brilliant gang of local craftspeople. And how good is @anchorsignsaustralia blobby signage?! Such a perfect pairing with the 3D dome / fishbowly glass. Congrats to everyone involved on this one. I’ve got more to share, but it’s Christmas Eve and I’m ded, so let’s call it a wrap! Wishing you all a wonderful break, and see you in 2026. Eloise x

From 2D to 3D — glass is pretty cool if I may say so myself! I came to the talented @andyward___ with an idea (and a tiny bit of pre-exhibition stress 🫠), and together we worked out the finishing touches i.e. how to actually mount and fix the sculpture to the wall...
Thanks to Andy’s skill and expertise, the result turned out even better than I could have imagined.
