“The idea of cosmic sequences arose from the question of how we could get as close as possible to our protagonist. We wanted to make his inner world tangible and create a representation of what his childhood perception of reality might have looked like, in order to better understand his present. When director Wietske approached me with the idea of adding dream sequences to the documentary, film immediately came to mind. It allowed us to create a clear contrast in texture and tone between the dream sequences and the rest of the film.”

Last week, my debut documentary AFRICAN GOLD premiered in collaboration with ADE Club Lab at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. After a beautiful panel talk earlier that week, the cinema of the Melkweg became the home of two sold-out screenings!! I’m forever grateful for the people that became part of this project that couldn’t get any closer to my heart ♥️
