My last image from Temple of Together. The artist Caroline was sitting in the middle after all debris was removed. It was a moment. It is a moment.

In a time of global challenge, the ‘Temple of Together’ at Burning Man 2024, designed by Caroline Ghosn, embodies unity and connection. As the first BIPOC woman to design the temple, Ghosn’s 94-foot-wide, 70-foot-high structure offers an inclusive, reflective space. Her design draws on past experiences and emphasises intimacy and light.

In an exclusive interview with STIR, Ghosn reveals the emotional journey and design challenges that shaped her design of this year’s Temple at Burning Man.

To have this moment, in this part of my journey captured, feels like the raw in real life representation of the physical and metaphysical death and rebirth that comes from transmuting and channeling your own pain, and grief into your own saving grace, healing and personal power.
This reaaallly is such a special gift to have to remember exactly what got me here, and why I’ll never go back to that scared little girl who never thought she wasnt good enough or doing it right.
Like a snake shedding, refusing to be cast in dead and dying skin, it is renewed as part of the natural cycle of growth and self transformation.
Shedding the fear, the doubt, the insecurity and claiming my right as a creatrix, to craft a life that is uniquely my own, liberated from my mental prison and the blinding and misleading projections of others beliefs and fears. Unashamed and unwavering of my authentic path and my evolution.
It’s as if like this picture is channeling from this smoldering fire through to peace like the embodiment of the uninterrupted flow of life force energy we tap into and draw from when we start to create and express ourselves in our most empowered, authentic expression.
& how fitting I just read that @templeoftogether is about the light that emerges when we come together with all parts of ourselves and the oneness we share with all beings. In a time of global conflict and challenge she invites each of us to unfurl under her protection and be seen loved and inspired.
To be captured so powerfully surrounded by the ashes of the old, released pain and grief from all of burning man is giving literal phoenix rising and is feeling testament to this journey. & not to be alarmed, but your girl is JUST heating up; this really is just the beginning 😼 🐦‍🔥

This year’s Burning Man 🔥 @burningman gave me the opportunity to capture in my paintings the most iconic and beautiful art objects, some of which were traditionally burned. Here I paint the Temple @templeoftogether , a significant place where people remember their loved ones who have passed away. What they want to say goodbye to and what they want to remind themselves of. This very strong atmospheric place is visited year after year by everyone who comes to the festival. And every year The Temple is built of incredible beauty ✨
I just stood in the shadow of one of my favorite art piece @poetickinetics and an art car @axolotlearthguardian pulled up and which featured @seth_schwarz violin. It was magical 💫
