We are thrilled to announce that drag superstar Trixie Mattel will host The Philadelphia Orchestra’s fifth annual FREE Pride Concert and Celebration on Tuesday, June 30!

Conductor Carolyn Kuan will lead the Orchestra alongside the ANNA Crusis Feminist Choir, Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus, Philadelphia Voice of Pride, Transcendent Choir of Philadelphia, and cast members from the touring production of The Notebook in a concert that will celebrate Philly’s LGBTQ+ community. A pre-concert celebration includes a drag showcase hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Mandy Mango, and more.

The concert is free, but tickets are required and are available now at the link in our bio. Seating is general admission and on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year’s concert is proudly presented in partnership with Wawa Welcome America as part of Philadelphia’s America 250 celebration and is supported by Lead Community Engagement Sponsor Independence Blue Cross and Pride Concert Sponsor Lyft.

Yannick’s plaque is located right outside the main entrance of the Kimmel Center. Congratulations, Yannick!

The title of the piece reflects Sorey’s collaborative relationship and admiration for Crispell, the avant-garde jazz pianist and fellow Philadelphian whom he has described as a lifelong inspiration. Bravo!

We are saddened to learn of the passing of composer and cellist Cris Derksen. Philadelphia audiences last experienced her work in March 2024, when she performed her own Controlled Burn at the Kimmel Center alongside the Orchestre Métropolitain with Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Our thoughts are with her family and all who loved her.

Among them are the easy-going, melodious white Txakoli—a unique Basque wine chosen as a nod to Maurice Ravel’s own Basque heritage—, and the complex and expressive red Mencía wine from Bierzo, a fine accompaniment to the stylized drama of Bizet’s Carmen. Lighter in texture and density, both the sparkling Cava and the rosado from Rioja represent contemporary takes on more traditional styles—much as De Falla adapted his own culture’s musical traditions to meet the idioms of 20th-century orchestral composition.”
