A special project with the adventurous soul, director Giri Prasetyo — a filmmaker, traveler, and explorer at heart. He’s someone who doesn’t just tell stories, but lives them, riding across Indonesia and beyond on his motorcycle.
This was actually an older project, but Mas Giri took the initiative to revisit and re-grade it, entrusting me with the visual refresh. I still remember his words:
“Mas Ken, I trust you to bring this to life — make it stunning, natural, and mature. The beauty of the landscapes should really shine through. Sorry for the lighting inconsistencies, you know how outdoor shoots go in tropical Indonesia — but don’t worry, Mas Barel was the DOP, so we’re in good hands. And once again, i trust you.”
Truth be told, the most challenging part of color grading isn’t about creating wild looks — it’s balancing. Especially when the direction is to keep everything natural. And in a tropical country like Indonesia, where the sun and weather can change in an instant, that balancing act becomes both the biggest challenge and the most rewarding part.
