Self-monitoring tools can help you train better.

They can also turn you into a rider who can’t make a decision without checking a score first.

The device isn’t the problem.

The reaction is.

Whoop, Garmin, HRV, sleep scores, training load, food tracking — all of it can be useful. But none of it gets to decide what today is.

Your job is to use the data as information, not as permission.

A green score doesn’t mean hammer.
A red score doesn’t mean hide.
A bad night of sleep doesn’t erase the plan.
A good readiness score doesn’t mean you get to turn every ride into a race.

The goal is not to chase the number.

The goal is to execute the session correctly.
