A little update from my end… for the past year and a half I have taken up the role of studio manager at the legendary @retrophonics_recording_studio. The experience thus far has been nothing less than extraordinary. Jim DeVito has been the captain there for the better part 50 years, and his experience and reputation precede him. I have been unbelievably lucky to spend 100’s of hours with him, learning this trade and developing an entirely new skillset.
Along with fellow engineers @jonwardmusic , @patblast , and @jack.miller.music , we are forming a team that has the skills and determination necessary to continue the legacy and culture that Jim has cultivated throughout his career in St Augustine. We are unspeakably grateful for Jim and his willingness to teach a new generation of engineers the invaluable information he has gathered throughout his life.
As we are in a time of transition, there is a wonderful melting pot of musicians coming in and out of the studio. Longtime clients of Jim and new-to-retro friends of ours have all enjoyed the unique and inviting space that this analog-centric studio provides. We look forward to continued work with the maestro and to share this experience with more and more artists in the North Florida area.
