This single is an extended excerpt from the upcoming album Mere Mortals, a recording of the artist’s debut ballet score.

Inspired by the myth of Pandora, Mere Mortals was premiered in January 2024, directed by @rojotamara, with choreography by @aszurebarton and design and visuals by @hamill_industries. Shepherd played synths live with the @sfballet orchestra during the production’s successful first run, and was reunited with the orchestra to record the work for DG.

On his new album with the @bambergsymphony, @jakubhrusa_conductor dedicates himself to the six symphonies of Bohuslav Martinů. These works were composed during the Czech composer’s exile in America and combine poetic lyricism, epic tragedy and Bohemian energy.

The Songrepresents the shadows of the past that haunt historic buildings – “it is the disused ballroom that holds the most potent ghosts of memory. For it is in this room that some people feel certain they can hear music; in this room, in different clothes, they feel sure they once danced.”
