In our October issue, GQ Middle East spotlights the region’s filmmakers who continue to expand the cinematic language with stories that are heartfelt, original, and deeply human. Their craft and technical vision define how those stories resonate on screen.
This is part 4 of a 9-part series celebrating their dedication and the worlds they bring to life.
In a world where Western films have long painted the Middle East in dust and beige, his work restores the deep blues of Haifa, the greens of olive groves, and the warmth of real light. As the only practising colourist based in Palestine, @creativityblok is reclaiming the region’s visual identity – teaching, grading, and crafting images that feel true to the land, not filtered through someone else’s lens.

Introducing our talented, cool-headed colourist, Nour Abukamal @creativityblok
What a champion. 💪
Nour has been a rock throughout the final stages of post-production on Palestine Comedy Club. No challenge is too big or too complex, everything is achievable with Nour’s positive energy. ⭐️
We knew we wanted Palestine Comedy Club to offer audiences a journey through Palestine that they have never experience before. Colour is essential to achieving this.
When you move from Ramallah to Nablus, Haifa, Nazareth, Jerusalem, Jenin, Hebron and Beit Awwa, you encounter different people, cultures, sounds, smells, and colours. Nour’s insightful treatment of each location provides each city with its own distinct colour profile, adding so much depth to the journey and highlighting visually the multitude of worlds that exist with this small land mass.
Thank you Nour for everything you have brought to Palestine Comedy Club. We can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!
🎉🤩🎉
And a HUGE thank you to Film Lab Palestine for providing the space for us to work on the documentary - the facilities you welcomed us into are incredible and we look forward to working with you again soon!@filmlabpalestine

ENGLISH FOLLOWS
We are pleased to share the official poster for our film “Born a Celebrity,” and we are excited to announce that it has been selected for its world premiere at the Asian World Film Festival in California and its Arab world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival.
We feel a mix of pride and hesitation in presenting a comedy film in the midst of the ongoing genocide against us as Palestinians. We have always believed in the importance of narrating our stories to the world, now more than ever.
“Feeling confined in his small Palestinian town and close-knit community, Kamel, a young man, embarks on a journey to discover his personal freedom and privacy.”

Siri Miri is a short film set in the occupied West Bank which satirically captures about the life of Palestinian youth living in a technological age, and no-so-helpful Al assistants. Sick of their routine-run life spent coffee-sipping in smoke-filled coffeehouses, two teenagers turn to the help of Siri to no avail. This short film explores how the occupation affects every aspect of Palestinian life, including access to electricity, water, and a lack of freedom of movement.
Winner of Best Short film at Palestine Cinema Days Film Festival and Festival Ciné-Palestine Paris.
