Creative Reuse | Art Supplies
We inspire creativity, conservation, & community engagement through reuse! We’re open every day from 11 AM - 5 PM 🎨
Creative Reuse is cool because you can buy one singular item (like a pipe cleaner, popsicle stick, etc) for a project, or you can fill a bag. There are several different fill-a-bag areas in the shop, and here’s how they work!

Wanna donate your arts and crafts supplies to Creative Reuse?! Here’s some info:
1. Check Our Donation Guide: Visit our website to see what materials we can and can’t accept. We love clean, usable arts and crafts supplies like paint, markers, fabric, and yarn. However, we can’t take items that are dirty, moldy, mothballed, hazardous, or better suited for a thrift store. We also have a list of temporarily restricted items, so be sure to check that too.
2. Understand our donation policies: Donations are accepted between 11:30 and 4:30 PM. We accept one medium box per household per day with no appointment needed. Just bring your box to the donation desk, and we’ll handle the rest. If you have more than one box, please schedule an appointment online—each appointment allows for two boxes and you can schedule multiple appointments in a day.
3. Go the Extra Mile: Sorting your materials and labeling unusual/mysterious items before donating helps us out a lot when we’re processing them!
For more details and resources, visit our website (linked in our bio) or give us a call at 412-473-0100.
Happy Earth Day! We’d like to celebrate by sharing more about how we operate as a nonprofit organization. Every day, we work to keep reusable materials out of the landfill by connecting them with artists, teachers, and makers in our community.
Last year, we prevented over 52 tons of materials from going to landfills. Wowza! As a small nonprofit, we rely on your support to keep growing. Every contribution helps us make a deeper impact. Please consider making a financial donation to support Creative Reuse and help us reach our goal of raising $4,000 by April 30th!
Your donation will help expand programs and reduce waste, creating more opportunities for creative expression in our community. Thank you for being part of Creative Reuse!

This week we are featuring Lenore Solmo, an artist in Brooklyn, New York. Learn more about her work below:
"Lenore Solmo is a Brooklyn-based mixed media artist whose practice centers on rescuing single-use plastic bottles from New York City streets before they enter the waterways. Self-taught and driven by environmental urgency, she came to art in 2020 after a decades-long career in fashion accessories, bringing a trained eye for material, form, and detail to an entirely new medium.
Her sculptures take the shape of sea creatures- octopus, jellyfish, and other harbor inhabitants, assembled from found single use plastic bottles, adding heat and vintage beads from her archives. The work draws a direct line between Brooklyn's discarded waste and New York Harbor, asking what we've lost and what we've replaced it with.
Lenore teaches upcycled art workshops across New York City, including at public parks, senior centers, and venues like Governors Island, Freshkills Park, and as a resident teaching artist for July 2026 in Washington Sq. Park. Her community programming brings the same material transformation into participants' hands, turning trash into something worth keeping."

Addie Saenz, also known as Arboreal Threads, is a fiber artist based in Houston, Texas.
"Arboreal Threads is a pensive ode to nature. I draw lots of inspiration from trees, animals, and antique fiber art. I create various pieces including clothing, bags, keychains, pins, and jewelry. Everything is handmade or upcycled from vintage/secondhand materials and thoughtfully curated. The beauty of using reclaimed materials means that each piece is unique and inspired by the materials I have on hand. I find a lot of joy in giving used items a second life. I embrace the imperfections that come along with handmade pieces and see them as proof that the items were crafted with love and intention."
Follow Arboreal Threads at @arboreal_threads on Instagram. Do we have any followers in Houston?! If so, mark your calendars. Addie will be vending at the Macabre Market on May 17.

This week we're spotlighting Imi Win, a mixed-media artist, musician, sculptor and jewelry-maker based in Pittsburgh. Imi frequently utilizes materials from Creative Reuse and other found objects in their work!
"Imi creates with the wandering thoughts and fragments collected on walks through Pittsburgh. Their creations center on reuse: jewelry assembled from found plant and animal remnants and discarded manmade materials; films that capture their moving shadow and sights; collage paintings made from old magazines; and sound shaped by random mouth noises. Across mediums, their creations are about the parts of our inner and outer worlds that are overlooked and lost in time."
