Our magical maestro @bigdatabigdata on composing the score for #ManifestDestinyFilm:

“In our earliest conversations about what the score could be, @timmersgun and I discussed threading the needle between a traditional podcast soundtrack and the surreal, nightmarish hallucinations of our protagonist. I mostly used my upright piano for the melodic elements and the podcasts main theme, and then I used my modular synthesizer for sound design and the more terrifying elements.

I also had a tremendous amount of fun recording percussive knocking sounds from my piano and then manipulating them through the synthesizer. As our protagonist walks through the forest, I wanted them to evoke a feeling of brittle wood bending and stretching, speeding up and slowing down, almost like the sound of a rickety old wooden ship. I applied a similar effect to bend some of the piano melody as a way bridge and blur the line between the podcast and his reality.”

10 years ago, @joywave and I set out to make something subversive and fun - 4 pop songs about how social media companies were exploiting our personal info and manipulating our behaviors. We had no idea how much that EP would change the course of our lives and connect us to so many of you… Also very happy to report that the big tech companies have all totally stopped doing that, and everything is fine now.⁣

4-ish years ago, I met 3 extremely talented and hard-working dudes @thisismoontower - we bonded over a love of synths and gear and SebastiAn, among other things… We wrote together at my studio in Brooklyn, at theirs in LA, and many more times over zoom throughout the pandemic… today, the fruits of all that collaboration take flight on their debut full-length, “Season 2: Air Take Care.” I’m proud as hell to have exec-produced it, and to have witnessed so many of these amazing songs take shape. Big love to @thisisculver @tcbassist @devanwelsh! ✈️🤘🤖🤘🛩️
