Two years after surviving a shark attack, @AliTruwit has learned from experience that with the right resources, big dreams, and support from the communities that carry us, trauma can transform into hope 💛
That’s why Ali founded @StrongerTYT: to light the path she was able to follow for others. The organization helps her fellow amputees access the prosthetics, water safety training, and confidence through the Paralympic movement that helped Ali rebuild her life — and with $100,000 raised from Stronger Than You Think’s first-ever Swim-A-Thon this month, things are looking brighter than ever ☀️
Today, Ali is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, public speaker, and avid baker. Her journey to recovery isn’t over, but she’s determined every day to, in her own words, “take this bad thing that happened to [her] and use it for good.”
On Ali’s birthday and the anniversary of her amputation, swipe to hear just some of her story and head to strongerthanyouthink.org to learn more!

Celebrate My Heroes Day ❤️
Today marks three years since losing my leg in the shark attack.
Three years of learning that grief doesn’t disappear — it settles into you. The loss, the trauma, the ache of what was…those will always live with me.
But I’m also learning that the gratitude lives even louder.
The people who carried me through the darkest days of my life didn’t just show up once. They’ve never stopped showing up.
Lifesaving surgeons who sat in the audience at my documentary premiere.
Friends who refuse to let milestones pass quietly — celebrating every victory big or small. A coach who flies across the world to help me continue to find healing and strength in the water. A first responder who traveled hours to cheer at the finish line of my @nycmarathon and the best friends who ran it with me.
Family whose love, dedication, and strength run deep.
Every step of my recovery has been built on the shoulders of these people — my heroes.
While this day always feels heavy and hard, it’s also a reminder that even in the worst moments imaginable, humanity shows up. Heroes show up. Love shows up.
So today, I’m celebrating my heroes. ❤️

Three years ago this month, I lost my leg — and nearly my life — in a shark attack. For a long time, I didn’t think feeling beautiful or confident was something meant for me anymore, let alone in a bikini.
And I definitely never thought I’d be a 2 x Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model!
Thank you @si_swimsuit for reminding me that we are all beautiful just as we are. Eternally grateful to be part of a team that celebrates every body and every story. ❤️
