Catch up with Leticia Bajuyo as she puts the finishing touches on her newest exhibition, Signal Convergance, at the Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery. @ocusva

What's that sound? The theremin - the only instrument in the world played without physical contact.

Experience it for yourself at the special reception on September 10 at 6pm, where OCU faculty will perform a new score using the theramins live in the gallery.

The Signal Concergance installation is open from May 21 - September 18.

The Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery, located in the Norick Art Center on the Oklahoma City University Campus, is the focus of the university’s participation in the visual arts. The gallery provides a contemporary exhibition space for significant and challenging exhibitions by local and national artists and art organizations. The Hulsey Gallery provides School of Visual Arts students with educational opportunities related to collection management and exhibition of art in a professional gallery.

The mission of the Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery is to promote the understanding of and extend the audience for contemporary art, and to present exhibitions that inform, inspire and challenge the public, particularly students of Oklahoma City University. The Hulsey Art Gallery is an integral part of the School of Visual Arts, and it is used daily by visitors, students and faculty.

Heather is the 5th generation of a farming and ranching family from Enid, OK. She is a mixed-media artist who studied watercolor and art history at Oklahoma State University and Northern Illinois University. She has work in the permanent collection of OSU and University Health System of San Antonio, and has shown in galleries in the US and Spain, where she worked in a contemporary art gallery. She received her Masters of Arts in Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, and wrote Spanish and bilingual educational programming at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Heather has a certificate from Harvard Business School online in sustainable business strategy and a Master of Legal Studies from OCU. She is also a member of the International Society of Appraisers. Previously, Heather was the Director of Art in Public Places for the State of Oklahoma and the Art Director for the Heritage Trust project in Oklahoma City. Heather has served as an arts commissioner for the city of Edmond, advised OKCPC Academy of Arts, and served on the board of the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.

This series provides free professional development over a wide range of topics for both emerging and established artists. Each workshop is led by artists and arts professionals who live and work in Oklahoma.
