NOW OPEN! The Library! 📚 During the pandemic, the Oakland Public Library made it super easy to find books, movies, and book+movie bundles for kids and adults alike! Ninang rekindled her love for stories through the discovery of new children’s books, and has kept her own reading list robust without having to spend any *more*💰! (Remember our taxes help fund libraries!) Oakland public library also has a great collection of audiobooks and e-books as well! And now with the library open 😍 more time to peruse and discover! This v super cute adorable library card was designed by a 16 year old!! Please give your local library a visit if you can, and check out a book or two! (Did you know that the Oakland Public Library allows you to check out **50** titles at a time?!😱) 😂 Do you have any book suggestions that Ninang could read for our next storytime? 📚

She attempted standup comedy!! this has been on Ninang’s bucket list for a lonnnnggggg time, and now that it’s crossed off, she wants to do it again!! Thank you to our friends at @7thwestoakland and @b1tc1ty for giving me the opportunity to make *big kids* laugh IRL!

It is believed that on this day April the 20th in 1853, Harriet Tubman, born Armanita Ross, started her work of the Underground Railroad. Over the period of 10 years, courageous Tubman helped liberate 70 Americans in captivity by slave-holding states in the Civil War. During the Civil War, she also served as a scout, a nurse, a cook, and even served as an advisor to Colonel James Montgomery during an operation that freed 700 Americans in South Carolina. And if she wasn’t amazing enough, in 1898 Miss Harriet underwent brain surgery and elected to *not* have anesthesia.⁣⁣ 😱 ⁣⁣

We honor the courageous Harriet, “Moses,” who on this railroad, did not lose a single passenger. 🔒
