New YouTube channel is LIVE! 🎉

For about 3 years I’ve wanted to start a channel of my own, and I couldn’t stop overthinking what I wanted it to be about. Now that part is clear. I know the community I want to build and be a part of.

The Daily Athlete Club is for everyday people who don’t have hours to spend in the gym. They don’t care about being the next professional bodybuilder or running the next 4-minute mile.

They just want to be healthier and stronger versions of themselves and show up every day with the time they have.

A general rule of the thumb is if something is a nice round number, it’s made to be generic.

10,000 steps is an awesome goal, and something to be happy about when it happens, however it should NOT be the only metric you’re measuring at the end of every day.

Just like how helping your neighbor move some boxes doesn’t count as your morning workout, 10K steps hardly means anything if you’re inactive and binging food the other 14+ waking hours.

Have an already existing plan, and add your steps on top of that and watch how much better it will work for you

Staying consistent in the gym is a point everyone will hit sooner or later in their fitness journey.

In the book Peak by Ericsson Anders, he argues that improvement comes through deliberate practice. Which means continuously practicing just above your current ability, with clear goals and full focus.

Meaning, if you want to be a chess grandmaster, don’t start out by play Magnus Carlsen. You’ll get beat so bad that you won’t learn anything, and you’ll more than likely become so demoralized you’ll end up quitting. Instead, put in a few hours every day playing an opponent that is only slightly better than you. Tough, but beatable.

Consistency in the gym is the same way. If you go from 0 to 100, you might just be trying to do too much and burning yourself out before you give yourself a chance to see improvements. Simplify the approach, and put full focus into less movements, and watch what happens.

This is how I recommend a workout approach to anyone feeling stuck.

75 Hard ≠ Locking In.

Build habits, don’t just do the short term goal. For the majority of people, the results don’t stick.

I think we have lost the plot with protein.

I’ll advocate for getting an adequate amount of protein just as much as the next person, but at this point I’m convinced it’s 99.9% marketing.

Just because it’s labeled as “high-protein” doesn’t mean it’s a health food.

This is how you can still get a solid workout in, even if you’ve got a busy workday and missed the gym 🏋🏻
