Happy to say “Hey Viktor” will be premiering at this years @tribeca film festival. So much heart and soul went into this film and I feel honored to have been apart of such an amazing team of people who brought this film to life. This was truly a dream project to be apart of and I’m so proud of this film. Can’t wait to celebrate with everyone come June! 😌

@therealjoedionbuffalo doc official selection for @sxsw !! Like most skateboarders growing up in Canada I have admired Joe both on and off the board since I was 10 years old. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Joe on a few projects over the years so I was incredibly grateful when director @amarchebib asked me to be apart of this project to help Joe tell his story. Thanks to everyone that worked so hard to make this happen and thank you Joe for being so open and honest about your life.

Come #behindthescenes with us and #cinematographer Liam Mitchell (@liammitchell) on his work on the vibrant docu-series ‘The Stories that Made Us’, from production company @wallop.film. 🇨🇦

“‘The Stories That Made Us’ is a documentary celebrating the importance of Canadian film and television,” Mitchell tells us. “It was important for the project to look as cinematic as possible to properly honour the legacy of the shows and filmmakers we were exploring. We wanted a camera package that maximized production value while complimenting the run-and-gun nature of the project. We ended up using #Panavision #Primo 19-90mm zooms, along with a handful of Primo and #UltraSpeed primes. The 19-90mm is one of my favourite lenses. Its clarity perfectly captures real people in the real world while still always feeling smooth and organic, all within a focal range that gives you the flexibility to stay reactive in any environment. They’re clean in all the ways you want them to be while still feeling organic and cinematic.

The two main tonal references were Anthony Bourdain’s ‘Parts Unknown’ and the travel documentary ‘Long Way Home’. Those shows succeeded because of the sincerity of their hosts – you get the sense they truly care about the stories they’re telling. We saw a lot of that in George [Stroumboulopoulos] (@strombo). We knew his genuine appreciation for Canadian film and television history would be the driving force behind our show, and we wanted a visual language that felt just as real and honest as what those shows captured.

‘The Stories That Made Us’ is rooted in the history and legacy of Canadian film and TV – no other company has a deeper legacy in cinema than Panavision. They’ve played such an important role in shaping the Canadian film and TV industry from the very beginning, and they’ve supported countless filmmakers and cinematographers like myself along the way. So it just felt fitting to have them come on and help celebrate that history.”
