‘The Long Walk’ @6lack

Placing as the middle point of the album on track 5, ‘The Long Walk’ is the title track to this body of work. The track takes us back to when Giovanni lost it all, the lowest of all lows, rock bottom. He lost the final thing that ever mattered to him, his dance. On the floor, broken ankle, everything gone. Real scary place to be for anyone, especially after you thought rock bottom couldn’t get any deeper. ‘The Long Walk’ explores the irony in this ‘Long Walk’ not being ‘Long’ at all, it’s in fact the final push to getting out of all this mess that 2025 threw at Giovanni, the last few yards.

Giovanni fights to his feet… one, last, time.

(I threw in some Easter eggs in this one, for some people. Let’s see if you can catch them and work out what they mean)

‘Back When You We’re Mine’

Placing track 2 on the Dance Album, ‘Back When You We’re Mine’ is a nostalgic but reflective take on Giovanni’s relationship with yearning & healing. Turning a page in a book that you thought you would read forever is the hardest thing to do, it’s like mourning a death, in ‘Back When You We’re Mine’ Giovanni reflects on how this process has shaped him into the new version of himself that is currently watching this back, writing this description & living a year on from events that would start the biggest spiral to the depths of rock bottom. This track is a beautiful take on how people need to FEEL every emotion to really get through any situation of adversity and not just run away from it, the honesty in ‘Back When You We’re Mine’ is truly beautiful.
