Our latest collaboration, entitled Supremus Textura, is taking the shape of an immersive installation at @loomisaspace, a space founded and run by the artist and designer @nananananananakim in Berlin. At the heart of this project is the unveiling of our new typeface, LL Supremus, a graphic companion to the LL Supreme (2020) family, meticulously crafted by @pablodesportes at Lineto.

LL Supremus draws both its inspiration and its name from the epoch-defining artist group that went by the same name, which gathered around Kazimir Malevich following the year 1913. Just as the Suprematists embraced freedom from conventional artistic constraints, so too does this typeface embody a spirit of liberation and revolution. Its construction references the many geometric typefaces emerging in the 1920s, most prominently those by Josef Albers and by Paul Renner. These systems are characterized by their reliance on a limited number of basic elements.

For this collaboration, Na Kim uses LOOM’s cubic space as a physical instrument that suggests a fresh perspective on typeface, especially in sensuous and playful interaction. She put together a wall installation filled-up with a limited series of prints using the iconic set of from Renner’s Futura Schmuck. The installation interacts with the movement and the airflow of the visitors, evoking how typefaces permeate our surroundings with their presence often going unnoticed.

We celebrated the opening on 29 February with a sound performance by experimental musician @han_isak_han, exploring the interplay between sound and type while savoring a culinary journey curated by @gamdo.studio, who presented an edible typographic citiscape inspired by graphic compositions supplied by Pablo Desportes.

The collaboration remains on display until 26 April.
LOOM space can be visited by appointment only on Fridays between 11 am – 6 pm, please book in advance via www.l-o-o-m.com/book
Lindenstrasse 91, 10969 Berlin, Germany

Many thanks to Na Kim, Isak Han, Gamdo Studio, Siniz Kim. Photographs by Melanie Hofmann.

It was such a blast hosting Gamdo's second catering event! A big thank you to @lineto_com and @loomisaspace for making it all possible. And a special shoutout to @naoki___okamoto for baking the delicious black baguette from @keit.berlin . We had an incredible time and appreciate everyone's contributions!

Edible Objects for Eva Fàbregas

Soft and round, the colorful rice cakes imitate the fluidness of Eva Fàbregas's (@eva_fabregas) work 'Devouring Lovers'. The difference? You can actually bite, taste, and devour it. 😉

It’s a reinterpretation of '송편 (Songpyeon)', a rice cake traditionally made for Korean thanksgiving.
Filling made with sesame seeds, cinnamon, sugar, and soybean flour. All colors derived from natural ingredients.

Edible Objects for Steegmann Mangrané.

People are invited to take a piece of a branch and taste it with the dip. The branch is made with whole wheat which gives it a nice rough texture.

These objects are inspired by Daniel Steegmann Mangrané's (@animal_que_no_existeix) work, aiming to create a sensory experience that obscures the boundaries between ‘nature and culture’ which terms the artist often refers to.
In our case, we’re looking at food culture not only from taste and visual perspective, but also how they are presented and consumed.

Edible Objects for Steegmann Mangrané.

People are invited to pluck the hanging radishes and dip them into the sauce placed over a leek.

This is where it all started.

When @tu3studio told me about plants living on these intriguing cube planets, I started to create this dish in my mind.
Gamtae, a more subtle and delicate flavour than of the nori, has this beautiful light green color and fine structures which is a perfect match with rice cubes.
We spent further time to develop and refine the flavours and oh yes.. the deonjang sauce was an explosion of flavour we just wanted.

Created for Play³ exhibition.

Rice, if cooked right, will keep its shape even after rolled together as a ball. Needless to say it’s a delight in your mouth.

There are flavours you can imagine and know it will taste good, and flavours that you simply have to try. Cheese³ was one of them.
And wow, the pink peppercorns not only look good, but really complete the flavour.
