We're open to visitors Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 12pm to 2pm.

Crossbones is opened and run by volunteer wardens, so times may vary.

You can find us at Crossbones Graveyard, Redcross Way, London, SE1 1TA.

A little visit to #CrossbonesGraveyard - this garden was created on the site of former post-medieval burial ground. It is believed to be the last resting place of an estimated 15,000 paupers, many of whom were sex workers and children.

It was forgotten under rubble for many years until the mid-90s when writer John Constable and a group of champions - the Friends of Crossbones - began protecting the site and promoting its history.

We then worked with the group, alongside others, to turn the space into a garden of remembrance. Together, we secured a lease for the garden so people can continue to find solace here.

The garden is evolving and will change over the next few years as the community and BOST work with the creators of the Liberty of Southwark - plans can be viewed at The Forge (se1 9hz) at the moment.

Crossbones is opened 12-2pm wed-fri by volunteer wardens - who'd love to welcome you and tell you more about this special space. Volunteer gardening also takes place here - see our website for more.

The vigils continue - run by The Magical Collective (follow @stillthecrossbonesgraveyard) with the next one taking place tomorrow, 23 November, from 6.45pm at the Ribbon Gates on Redcross Way.

Join us for a relaxed and informal zine making workshop at Crossbones Graveyard.

Create a zine that communicates something about Crossbones (or something Crossbones has communicated to you...) There are no rules - make a zine in memory of someone you've honoured at the gates, a personal experience or encounter you've had there... an ode to a crack in the ground.
