Sitting at a café alone drinking a Hugo spritz while everyone stares at me because I’m giving aura with my fresh blowout and gloss
In 1995 Ian Schrager called my dad for a loan to reimagine the Delano with designer Philippe Starck. My father spoke to my mom after the call and she said “give him whatever he wants, everything he touches turns to gold.” What followed was the most iconic lifestyle hotel Miami Beach had ever seen. If you visited the Delano during that time you will remember. The hotel lobby with floor to ceiling curtains drapped poetically and dancing in the light. The pool with baroque style garden furniture sitting in the shallow end where locals and visitors would gather for days on end. I spent my whole childhood running around the hotel and pool half naked. Some of my fondest memories of my toddler days happened in the iconic establishment.
When the hotel closed in 2020 the building sat there empty and lifeless. Every time I passed I wondered when it would reopen, and more importantly how it would feel when it did.
I revisited last night for the first time. Pulling up to the building and walking through the lobby, memories flooded my mind, but it quickly became clear it didn’t feel the same. There was a reminiscent feeling of what once was - but time had done what time does. As the sun set and the night progressed you could see the hotel had already fallen to the influences of the superficial Miami “scene”. A swim week party blasted music, the environment felt flashy, opportunistic, crowded and unwelcoming. Perhaps it was the night, the occasion, but it was evident that The Delano glory days of the late 90s and early 2000s would remain in a time capsule as a distant memory. With only subtle traces left behind.

Propaganda I am falling for:
Rhode lipliner
Fresh blow outs reformer pilates
Gold ring stacks white tanks tops
Building my career
Minding my own business
Idk what’s more expensive reformer Pilates or talk therapy but Pilates makes me feel good and look good so we’re killing two birds with 1 stone ladies.
I seriously enter a flow state when I am post energy healing session drinking detox tea and about to lock in on a new creative project
