Elise Boudreau Graham is an artist, arts worker and educator from the Maritimes and based in Montreal. She is in her second year of the MFA in Fibres and Material Practices at Concordia.
In her practice, she uses repurposed materials, imagery, and text to create new contexts for old objects. Her work takes up questions of collective aesthetic inheritance and generational affect within conditions of precarity, focusing on ordinary objects, improvised domestic systems, and indexes of everyday living. Her practice is informed by her previous position as a public high school teacher, her current work in the cultural sector, and a lifelong interest in collecting.
Elise holds a BFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from NSCAD University (Halifax NS) and an MA in Teaching and Learning from McGill University. She co-founded Friends & Neighbours Gallery (2017-2019) and has served as co-director of Céline Bureau, a residency and artist-run space in Montreal, since 2019.

My love of procedural and workplace television knows no bounds. Please note that chart positioning does not correspond with my personal appreciation. Except House. Also I forgot Murphy Brown (lawful-good) and Third Watch (chaotic-neutral).
Feel free to disagree in the comments!

I love substitute teaching because I get to see new (to me) parts of the city. First time at the Jolicoeur station, and I'm at a school for pregnant and young mom students, which I wasn't previously aware existed!

I am preparing notes for my presentation at this weekend's UAAC conference on the current role of alternative art spaces and artist-run centres. I feel thankful to have been a small part of this weird world for over 15 years! Artist-run culture made me who I am today 💗
1 - May Day, 2013
2/3 - Eyelevers & Khyber Clubbers ARC softball teams, Summer 2010

A fun thing about returning to school is that I get to try out the metal shop.
These pieces were shown at Carmine's Room (@carminesroom) this summer alongside work by Paula McLean (@pa____ula).

Welded steel, rustoleum oil paint, silk bra
3-5. S-scroll Heart Nightlight
Welded steel, plastic light base, silicone dipped bulb, glass paint, extension cord, steel strapping, house paint

She's frantic, funny, and coping! (2025)
mirror, etching cream, price tags and sticker, wax, fingerprints, keychains, mirror clips, Nylotex yarn, fasteners, thread
I am still thinking about this piece I installed at Maureen X and asking why I am so invested in Cathy comics as a trope.
I've been reading Our Aesthetic Categories over the summer, and I think Cathy is indicative of what Ngai calls zaniness, "an aesthetic of action pushed to strenuous and even precarious extremes". Aaccck!
