A few months ago @alimsabir messaged me interested in getting a roc for @elizabeth__yip. Being a fan of his work, I asked him if instead of buying one he would be willing to do a trade. I’ve been wanting to share how these rocs are made so we made a process video following their roc.

Each roc is uniquely foraged, carved and assembled. What memories or ideas would you keep on yours?

I’ve never made a public reel before so thought it was finally time. Once again huge love to @_adroc for making music that inspires me to keep creating. The track he created was the reason I started putting this edit together. I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the city’s most talented artists and call them my friends. I never thought I’d get this far and for that I am grateful, every video in here holds a special place in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has helped play a part in making these videos, none of this exists without you.

this audio visual piece has gone through many, many lifetimes inbetween shooting this in november 2022 & now.

i'm eternally grateful for the reciprocal belief between the team. to be able to create with those who resonate on the same wavelength with you. it's really awesome.

i'm grateful to all of you who have always poked and pushed at me to take my path and own it. finally releasing on spotify & all other platforms is a step 😅

but i'm at a point where the resistance that's always been a challenge for me has been diminishing and i feel so much lighter.

so with this it's a start haha

"taking this step has been a years long process. If not for chosen family around me I might not have done this for myself... so what more of a better gift then to share my art with the world on my birthday.

winter is a dark time for most people. the cold keeps most indoors & stagnancy festers. not a good ingredient list to make for a healthy mind. 'we're alive' is a honest attempt to show that it doesn't always have to be that way. the spell can be broken. movement, community, taking care to take care. as a close friend always asked "who takes care of us?" & the answer will always be that "we do."

a lot of changes have happened in recent years - many of us have grown in ways we could never see coming. i think it's time that we all see the bigger picture and come together so that we may realize a better future for those we love & in relation, ourselves.

know that you are always loved.
