What does home sound like when you build it somewhere new?

For our @refugeworldwide debut, we want to explore the Indonesian sounds, memories, and dancefloor energies that shaped us, past and present.

As three Indonesian artists based in Berlin, this set is about tracing where we come from, what moves us, and how we want to contribute to the city’s nightlife and diaspora community.

We’re honored to be part of this community evening hosted by @xo.babxi , celebrating Asian diaspora through music, food, and connection while raising funds for ICE OUT in support of overseas diaspora communities.

On Sat, May 16th, we are hosting an evening of culture, community, and music at Refuge. Inspired by #AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) month, we’re centering artists and vendors from Berlin’s vibrant Asian diaspora:

Community hangout programming from 5pm:

* Traditional Korean tattoo art by @daya.tatt

* Panel session by @alpas_pilipinas

Closing out our hangout is a karaoke session hosted by Pinay “karaoke jockey” @xo.babxi, following Asian house party traditions, supported by Korean apothecary brand @the_awkn with giveaways of recovery shots!

This community event is free to attend, but encourages donations to align with the efforts of ICE OUT and related initiatives opposing anti-immigrant rhetoric and action. In doing so, our aim is to foster support for overseas diaspora, making the statement that cultural observances – whether official or not – matter, and so does what happens to diaspora communities everywhere.

Donations will be directed to @iwspace.de, a Berlin-based feminist and anti-racist collective made up of migrant, refugee, and non-migrant women. The group focuses on supporting refugee women and advocating around issues like asylum rights, deportation, and social isolation.
