CCO010 comes from Jason Code – legit one of our favourite artists/people in the world and someone who has been contributing to the club music ecosystem behind the scenes for the best part of a decade.

Out August 28, Nervous Growl is the sound of a true scene-builder from Seattle’s underground – the kind of hypnotic club music that comes from a life spent amongst DIY spaces and big soundsystems. Jason’s not just a producer – he’s a lighting tech, co-runs his own soundsystem (and soon a venue) – this is someone actually putting the hard graft into the infrastructure that his local community needs to thrive. We’re honoured to make him part of the family.

When it comes to polymaths of the Pacific Northwest, few are as prolific on the frontlines as @jasoncode_. Lighting designer, DJ, producer, and promoter, Jason is a creative force pushing progressive club sounds and immersive dance floor atmospheres.

A primary vessel for this is @data_club_net, a Seattle party he helped start, known for cutting edge bass and breakbeats. Just this year they’ve hosted K-Lone & Facta, DJ Stingray, Mia Koden, and DJ Sliink, as they also enter the third iteration of the locally focused Impulse campout in collaboration with the @betweenthelinescltv.

As a selector, Jason appears regularly behind the decks in Seattle at foundational clubs such as @kremwerk and @massive_club, proving himself adept in support of Nikki Nair, DJ Tool, and more. He’s found a knack for delivering precision pressure through soundsystems as well through his own productions on @ommayarecords, @clasicorecs, and @scuffedrecs, to name just a few imprints.

I feel though that it’s as a lighting technician that his brilliant blend of simplicity and detail is most noticeable - from underground to nightclub to festival - Jason has a keen eye, and ear for that matter, for enrapturing dancers.

For over a decade, Jason Code has been organizing events, creating music, and providing production support for the underground music scene. After throwing warehouse raves with Terminal 8 in Nashville, TN he moved back to Seattle and began working as a lighting tech for after-hours crews such as Research, Lotion, High+Tight, and Second Nature. Around the same time, he formed DATA-CLUB with a group of like minded friends, invested in a soundsystem, and began building a DIY space to help strengthen the city’s underground dance community. His tracks have been supported by artists including Darwin, Regal86, Nikki Nair, Bored Lord, Jossy Mitsu, and Polygonia.
