The 2026 GREAT GIVE has started!

This summer, ECOCA’s Summer Apprenticeship Program (SAP) offers NHPS Teen Artists something rare: paid time, dedicated studio space and intensive mentorship.

Led by artist Kat Wiese, SAP is a three-week program (weekdays July 6-24, 12-4pm) focused on paper making, printmaking, bookbinding, and exploring themes of safety through material practice. Using The Green Book as a (re)source, artists will work hands-on with materials while engaging questions of care, protection, and memory. This year’s exhibition will be accompanied with an essay by Ian Dudley and a poem by New Haven’s own Poet Laureate Yexandra Diaz! The program culminates in a public reception on July 24th.

The Great Give is upon us- officially on May 6&7th!

The Ely Center of Contemporary Art is at a critical turning point.

We are currently operating out of CitySeed’s building in Fair Haven, but this is temporary. Without a permanent home, the future of our programming, and the space we provide for artists to take risks, experiment, and grow is uncertain.

We are so close.

We’ve already raised over $500,000 toward the purchase of a building. During the Great Give, we are working to raise $15,000 to unlock a $5,000 matching pledge, bringing us to our $20,000 goal during this fundraiser and closer to securing a permanent home.

This is the foundation everything else depends on.

A permanent space means our exhibitions, workshops, residencies, and community programs can continue. Not just now, but for years to come.

Just wanted to let you know I did a little thing for threeiota’s first saturday shows- it opens tomorrow- 6-10! with artists amira brown, kit young, denise miller and part of a project henry and i did years ago (that no one has seen before)- message me for the address- if you can make it that would be amazing- pot luck style if you want to eat/byob if you happen to be free!
