Working in healthcare often means showing up for others in high-pressure situations. After a stressful event, it is normal to feel overwhelmed, replay what happened, question your decisions or simply need someone who understands.
That's why MLKCH just launched Peer2Peer—a program where trained MLKCH employees provide short-term, confidential emotional support, a safe space to talk, validation of your experience and connection to additional resources when needed.
The program is currently in its pilot phase in ICU, L&D and our Unite Here location.

Two years ago, MLKCH opened its Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization Lab to bring more advanced, timely care to South Los Angeles.
Since then, the program has continued to grow. This year, the lab expanded its capabilities to include pacemaker procedures, including MLKCH’s first leadless pacemaker implantation.
More progress is on the way, including construction of a second Interventional Suite and pending approval to perform PCI, a procedure that can help treat certain blocked arteries on site.
Each step means more specialized care, fewer delays and more treatment options close to home.

Not long ago, diabetes-related amputations were the most common surgery at our hospital in South LA, where diabetes rates run 37% higher than the rest of LA County.
Four years after launching our Diabetes Center of Excellence, we had zero amputations among our highest-risk patients.
We got there by removing the real barriers that stand between our community and good health.
