Last weekend I had the honor to share the stage with my dear friend @pdubcookin and the @sphinxorg orchestra performing “The Duel” from @chevaliermovie by @_michaelabels

I grew up watching the Sphinx Competition from afar (in Wyoming). Several times over the years I auditioned for the competition myself… Honestly I never made it to semifinals; everyone is so amazing. I have watched the laureates go on to have their own impressive and inspiring careers, and have been a fan and supporter of them all.

So, after all these years, to get the opportunity to perform and share the stage at Detroit symphony hall (that I’ve seen in countless videos) with these same musicians I’ve looked up to for a lifetime… Words can’t describe how I feel.

AND my dad got to come to the concert! My heart is so full. Dreams I didn’t even know I had have been coming true.

Last weekend I had the honor to share the stage with my dear friend @pdubcookin and the @sphinxorg orchestra performing “The Duel” from @chevaliermovie by @_michaelabels

I grew up watching the Sphinx Competition from afar (in Wyoming). Several times over the years I auditioned for the competition myself… Honestly I never made it to semifinals; everyone is so amazing. I have watched the laureates go on to have their own impressive and inspiring careers, and have been a fan and supporter of them all.

So, after all these years, to get the opportunity to perform and share the stage at Detroit symphony hall (that I’ve seen in countless videos) with these same musicians I’ve looked up to for a lifetime… Words can’t describe how I feel.

2 years ago @_michaelabels texted me like “Hey, so I wrote a new violin concerto for this movie. I’m gonna send you the part. Can you record in 2 days?” 😨 I… basically sh* a brick.

While we didn’t record 2 days later (maybe ~9?), major s/o to my brother @pdubcookin and @i.m.hyejin for their phenomenal musicianship. What an incredible time. I’m so glad we can share this with the world.

When you see @chevaliermovie , the film starts with an epic violin duel between Chevalier (@kelvharrjr / @pdubcookin) and Mozart.

I had the honor (and difficulty, lol) of playing Mozart’s violin part. I won’t say who wins… But sometimes you gotta take an L to get the W 🙏🏾
