it’s rare that a literal dream comes true . i’ve been out here for 19 years . nineteen years !!! i’ve been lucky enough to play some of the most incredible an legendary venues in the world . i’m not quite sure how , but i have pictures and even some tattoos to prove it ha . this is a weird and wild life . so many ups and downs and so many years of feeling plateaued and stuck . and then something happens that reminds me to take my own advice : leave room for surprise . it’s something i try to live by . to always leave room for the unknown . i wish it wasn’t so hard to hold out hope and belief in myself . honestly it’s one of the hardest parts of all of this for me . to continue believing that “ i can “ . moments like this remind me - to the deepest parts of my doubts and insecurities - of another thing i try to live by : always look up . even if just a 5 degree tilt upward . slow and steady wins the race , right ? well i don’t know that i believe that’s true anymore , but what im reminded of tonight is that dreams can come true . @thewiltern is a venue i have dreamed of playing for so many years . from Universal City Bar and Grill to Wembley Stadium and everything in between , this place is one that has always been up there as an absolute grail for me . and tonight that dream is coming true . and for that , i am so grateful , and to be honest in my current mental state - surprised ! here’s a picture @halles_here took of me [ and @pauledelmanmusic lurking side stage ] with my gatorade zero and sugarfish . see you tonight at the freaking wiltern supporting @ohwondermusic .

i can’t put into words how much this record means to me . it started out of boredom , resentment , confusion and too much idle time . and it bloomed out of magic , wonder , awe , love , hope and exploration . i wrote a good bit of it by myself on my living room floor . my first time coproducing some of my own music . in so many ways , i feel like this record marks a return to where i started . pulling from my original inspirations . the record was also heavily inspired by @anniejacobsenbooks “ nuclear war : a scenario “ . that book and scenario contextualized a batch of songs i was forming . it raised the stakes on everything . on how deep love is . how fleeting life is . how every little moment is somehow completely insignificant and absolutely miraculous at the same time . how in an instant , there could be no trace we were ever even here . how much sweeter does that make the sweet ? how much more beautiful does that make the beauty ?
