In convo with Patty Mañá, founder and creative director of @nimph_ 🩶✨ for @thecoldmagazine

We talk about NIMPH’s FW26 Barcelona Fashion Week show, A Room to Dream In—an immersive experience that bends the rules of runway—alongside the romance of velvet and lace, Barcelona queer culture, and the “thin veil between reality and imagination.”

NIMPH blends innovation with sentiment; each piece is handcrafted in the heart of the city. Material remnants are reimagined into romantically distressed silhouettes of delicate rebellion, androgynous and experimental. Collections are reclaimed as “chapters.” Mañá’s conscious practice is driven by nostalgic narratives and nature. From swimming in the ocean each week of the year to gathering lace from her grandmother’s closet, NIMPH’s garments reflect the visionary’s mind like a mirror.

“What drew me to fashion was the freedom that happens with clothes: the game of identity, the power of how clothing can make you feel.”

Two years ago today, poetry and fashion met in a soft collision of cloud and cloth. 🪽

These captured moments are from @roisinpierce ‘s PFW AW24 showcase — her fifth collection, O Lovely One, Girl That Fell from a Star — where the poem, Angel of Hope, rested upon red-cushioned seats and accompanied a vision of angelic resilience and Irish pride.

I remain forever grateful, and still in awe of that magical day — when fashion did not simply move forward through Pierce’s empathetic craftsmanship, but seemed to float across a skyline of feathers and stars. ✨

There may be more to come of this small and delicate poem, once the blurriness of my regretful sadness becomes clear and finds a place to call home.

Stepping into your first year without someone you have known every single day of your existence is an extremely difficult and painfully sad thing. As the months go by, loss seems to become more lonely and much more clear.

But here’s to the year of the horse 🐎 I will let my grief become a stallion that gallops alongside me, to remind me of movement rather than stagnancy. I must treasure rather than resent. Cherish rather than fear.

Good morning to all — lonely or in love, lustful or leaving, and to those peaceful and lingering in their solitude. ☕️

From the winter archive. I suppose stashed away to reappear the following year? I remember I was inspired by Ellen Bass’s poem, Getting into Bed on a December Night. It made me want to write about the reverse: Love in the winter morning. Love at the beginning of when winter starts. The tragedy that is leaving the warmth of the bed in the early winter morning, when your tucked up next to your winter lover.
