Yesterday I attended a talk show ‘alternative of book design vol.4’, by Yoshihisa Shirai, who is my professor at Musashino Art University, and Kiyomori Muroga, a famous editor focusing on typography in Japan. The event was organised by the used book store Tiger Mountain and focused on the transition in Japanese editorial design from metal type to phototypesetting and DTP publishing.
It was amazing to learn the context of the 70s and 80s schools of editorial design in Japan.

安藤真生 Masaki Ando
書体デザイナー、パリ在住。1998年岐阜県多治見市生まれ。
武蔵野美術大学 視覚伝達デザイン学科、NDCでの有馬トモユキのアシスタントデザイナーを経て、2022年から2023年にかけて英レディング大学大学院の書体デザインコース(MATD)を修了。2024年3月より、フランス・パリのBlack [Foundry]に就職し、カスタムおよびリテイルプロジェクトでかなのデザインに携わる。現在は独立し、自身のオリジナル書体や日本のクライアントのカスタム書体の制作に従事。
書体の制作だけでなく、書体を使う環境にも興味を持ち、グラフィックツールやWeb、モーショングラフィックスツールにも触れている。また、趣味のゲーム好きが高じて大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズSPECIALのコミュニティ大会におけるデザインやツール開発も行う。また、書体を作る・使う人々にスポットを当てたPodcast『墨とPath』を同じく書体デザイナーである吉田大成氏と行っている。趣味はカメラ、旅行、ガジェットの購入検討。
