a dog's story of escaping domestic violence
It's fitting to break a long streak of silence today on International Women's Day. Why the silence? Well, to be quite honest, it's only ever been me (your humble director) maintaining all of the social media channels for the film. And to be honest, I've needed a long winter of rest and connecting to my community on a more personal level to be able to give my best toward this never-ending cause.
Here are the long-awaited results of what we as a community were able to come together and donate to The Rose House Domestic Violence Shelter during our paw-miere. Together, we helped raise over $2,100 in unrestricted donations that have allowed the shelter to utilize funds that are just as necessary to providing humanity to our local women and pets. Your donations helped make a real impact on real lives here in Ross County π
In recognition of today, I'll leave you with a short poem:
"Women Will"
No matter what doors are slammed in our face,
Women will find a way to pick the lock open.
No matter what merits are stripped away,
Women will rejoice together.
No matter what seats we're not allowed to fill,
Women will stand that much taller.
No matter what size we're told to be,
Women will fill stadiums with their light.
But who will be the first to fight when all looks hopeless?
