At Rose Maura Lorre’s wedding, when it was her turn to declare “until death do us part,” what she actually said was, “And neither of us is ever going to die.” “I still choose to believe that, but I’ve started hedging my bets,” she writes. So she got a will and a kit called a Nokbox.
A Nokbox is basically a sheaf of life-admin worksheets that you fill out and file away for any next of kin (aka “nok”) tasked with managing your earthly to-do’s after you’re gone. “My experience is probably colored by how much I was dreading the prospect in the first place,” Rose writes, but “you might find that filling in all of those personal and financial tidbits is even … a little bit fun.”
